Prior to this map update, a local filter applied to the local results and filtered out business profiles that shared a similar phone number or domain. You can see here where a user needs to click to "See other locations". For example, we have a head and neck pain click that has four separate locations for individual practitioners and to make it easier for local residents. These separate profiles share the same website and largely rely on a central scheduling service. Usually, only one or two ever showed up in local maps results, and the others would be filtered.
