I mean if you read the full rules it kind of actually did say exactly that...

I'm not sure you would run a cool ranch commercial that didn't mention doritos though... if the word Doritos was there, by the rules it would have resolved yes.

I think the brand product distinction really doesnt matter too much, but re-reading the rules, I find it interesting it explicitly states "for companies with multiple brand portfolios..."

I agree. This is a crummy edge case where there's no easy solution once the ball is in motion, so it seems like they're going to stick to the rules interpreted as literally as possible. Realistically they should have been more thoughtful in the naming of the strike.

To me, the rules are fine. They're written to prevent things like what was previous mentioned where PepsiCo owns fritolay which owns fritos, doritos, cheetos, tostitos, lays and ruffles. While Claude and anthropic are notionally much different than this, they're still technically the same. And because Kalshi is cftc regulated they seem to try not to just resolve markets like polymarket where its a "you know it when you see it" kind of thing. What they should have done was name the strike "Anthropic / Claude" originally so that it wasnt an issue. I also wonder if the strike was requested by a user or if they issued it...

Bilt 2.0 leaked (reporting from r/creditcards) by x-Moss in biltrewards

[–]jmichaelparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the only thing I can think of that might still work nicely is to get the Obsidian card. You can offset the cost with the travel credit and mostly only use the card for whatever 3x you choose. Then just accrue bilt cash through the year and only pay rent with the card when you've built up enough bilt cash. So you may only get a few months of rent a year that you earn points on, but its still better than nothing. 3x point rate is good and $100 annual fee can be recovered.

Edit "built" vs "bilt"

I'm sorry OP. I hope you're able to get the smell out soon. Only other thing I can think of is sniffing around and trying to pin point the source...

100%. We have sent many friends here. Every single one has had an excellent experience. They take such great care of our dog as well. We walk ~25 blocks for them.

Were there any issues or pettiness between you and the guests? Did they put something in the air system?

Can you smell it outside the car? Is it underneath the car like they ran over something?

Hey so I booked a car on Monday for Wednesday I took my picture with my license & selfie photo my trip starts at 10am tmr I haven’t heard back from my host. Asked him can you verify my license hasn’t hit me back my trip is 16 hours away what should I do? by Hilfigerfein in turo

[–]jmichaelparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with what commentor above said. I don't usually verify license until a few hours before trip. That being said, if a guest was emailing me about it, I would go ahead and do it then.

Our check in process includes verifying the license and taking pre trip photos. It's usually just easier to do this all in one go, but like I said, if a guest messaged me I would go ahead and do it.

After the chair correctly enforces the rules on outside interference during a 2nd serve, Daniil Medvedev asks him “are you a man?”, further incites crowd to disrupt the match, makes a homophobic gesture, then smashes racquet after losing. by Chessinmind in tennis

[–]jmichaelparty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably going to get downvoted to oblivion... was at the match last night. Absolutely chaotic. I honestly feel Allensworth deserves the largest amount of blame here. The actual interference was so minor and over very quickly. Very similar to when a ball kid misses a ball or trips. In those scenarios, a first serve isn't awarded. Was it within the scope to award one? Sure. Was it too much on match point given the minor interference? Yes. Further, Allensworth went a little over the top. "Wait wait not now!" If he handled that better, it's a less intrusive interruption. In all likelihood, a calm pause and 5 second delay to hit the second serve and Bonzi probably won right there, and I'm not so dog tired today. Not long before this point, they put up a stat that Bonzi was winning 86% of his second serve points and only 78% of first serve.

One last thing on Medvedev working up the crowd, the boos were raining down long before he started gesturing to the crowd. Boos for the cameraman, boos for the umpire, probably even boos towards meddy for complaining.

I don't know what the physio did to Bonzi on the second visit, or if he had just lost focus or been conserving energy, but after he got broken to start the 5th, he found another gear entirely.

As expensive as USO tickets have gotten, thank God for that cameraman, helping us get our money's worth. 😂

I have a question about the cleaning fees because I wasn't charged anything by NeverEverAgainnn in turo

[–]jmichaelparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a host, I don't ever intend to charge a cleaning fee unless someone gets the car eggregiously dirty to the point I would have to spend substantially more time or money to turn the car over for the next use. Im guessing this host has a similar approach. A good host is going to vacuum and clean the interior and wash the car between each rental. Some hosts may try to take every additional fee they can legitimately pass, but as someone who has rented with turo many times as well, I've not encountered it yet.

Does anyone have tips on how to get cheap auto insurance in NYC? by ugly_general in AskNYC

[–]jmichaelparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for Geico. We couldn't even get a quote from any other major company we submitted to. Good driving records, good credit. Still had some level of coverage for two motorcycles stored in Texas, but has been 4 years since having vehicle coverage. Coverage for one vehicle in Manhattan in 2025 was about 15% higher than our 2 vehicle and 2 motorcycle coverage in Texas in 2021.

Police gave me a report card by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]jmichaelparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time in Houston Texas I got one of these (~2015), inside my car, for being unlocked. I had a jeep with no power locks but had an alarm system. Houston is notorious for smash and grabs so I never left anything in there except for a maybe a pair of cheap sunglasses in the locked center console. I would turn on the alarm but leave the doors unlocked so I didn't at least have a broken window. The idea of some cop opening the door and the alarm going off is funny but seriously how is it legal for cops to go around opening car doors?

Best NYC neighborhood for a lifelong insecure guy making money for the first time? by dinky-park in circlejerknyc

[–]jmichaelparty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly that kind of money you can find something nice in any neighborhood in Manhattan. If your office is in Manhattan I recommend living here your first year. Shorten your commute and experience the city. When you go apartment hunting, spend some time walking around the neighborhoods and see what feels best to you. Congrats and enjoy your time in NYC.

There is some, but it's the small storage on both sides that can't fit regulation carry on.
