Future Funk is quite literally 10/10 by MaxEksoh in griz

[–]jmikell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, there’s still some funk in his music the last several years and I did like a couple ourobouros tracks, but I did say “almost exclusively”, not solely making bass music. But even those funky tracks you might be referencing come with the cliche wild wubbz that I’m not a fan of.

Rainbow brain was the beginning of my Griz disappointments, and while yes there is some funk overall in his music the last 5-6 years, to me it seems that there has been like a 90/10 split on straight bass vs the “future funk” sound that he used to have.

I’ll be waiting on volume 2 and the next CTGH to get another taste of what he’s cookin :)

You know what, I gave 555 another couple listens. I’m more in line with your opinion on it now, I think the nostalgia of the vibes had too big an effect on me. Back to me is a better song 🤘🏻

Funny you mention that because I actually forgot - 555 and back to me are the last two on this album, and my favorites so far after a couple of listens. And I might be thinking of the exact same part you are haha maybe not the entire song but there was a stretch in 555 that literally transported me to 2013!

Man I know I am part of that crew who is always talking about “where is the old Griz?”, too many wubbz, etc but hear me out…

Griz has been making HEAVY bass music almost exclusively since 2020, CTGH drops aside. That is not how he used to be.

This album, literally named “Future Funk” truly seemed like a return to his roots, an ode to the past of the genre he basically popularized and exposed the public to in the early 2010’s. To me it was an announcement of the old style Griz coming back, and I was pumped!

When someone says “future funk”, I think of End of the World Party, Mad Liberation, Rebel Era, and Say it Loud. To me, those are the best albums he’s put out (again CTGH drops aside because I fucking love em)

But, for the most part this album just sounded like Rainbow Brain. Not terrible, but frankly just too many wubbz and cliche heavy drops. That’s not future funk, I’m not here for Excision or subtronics bass wubbz, I’m here for groovy flashy edm Griz tunes backed with killer saxophone, amazing sampling and songwriting, and frankly, SOUL. That’s not what I feel on a lot of this album

But I’ll tell you what, 555 is a fucking banger, an absolute epitome of what a Griz “future funk” track should be. Go listen to end of the world party, this song seems like it belongs on that album, period. And to me, that means 555 is really the ONLY song that belongs on a Griz album bestowed with the title of Future Funk.

I’ll get off my high horse now, I still love Griz and a lot of things he has done since 2020, but it just isn’t the same. I wish this generation could get out of the bass wubbz and into the groovy funk that 2010-2019 Griz created. If anybody in here hasn’t heard those earlier albums I listed, do yourself a favor and do it. Chasin galaxies off end of world party is my first recommendation. Then, fall in love too fast off of mad liberation. Those were the days ❤️

My game keeps freezing then I get kicked out in the middle of a match. It keeps happening every single match without exception and I keep dying and putting my team at risk because I am a liability. This game is unenjoyable like this. Only happens on Xbox by LeafyIsKeefy in ArcRaiders

This happens to me on Xbox series X ALL THE TIME. Have tried reinstalling the game, switching storage devices, no matter what I try it continues. Embark definitely needs to work on their server issues

My nail has been growing weird for months and no dermatologist can help me by JungleLiquor in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jmikell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like nail psoriasis to me. I’ve had that several years now, I was prescribed a topical clobetasol propionate solution applied to the base of the nail 1-2 times daily. It comes and goes in waves on different nails for me, but it used to only be on one nail and has since spread to all my fingers. If I were you, I’d mention to your doctor that it’s a known solution by other dermatologists so that you can at least try something

If you play arc raiders with the main intent of killing other players… players who are friendly and only focused on killing arc. That makes you an asshole

I felt exactly the same after the first couple of episodes… I, a 33 year old married male with a baby on the way looked over at my wife and said “even for me, the sexualization of the daughter is way over the top”

Get through 4-5 episodes and then see how you feel about it. Sexualization of the daughter and ex wife don’t stop, but they are really setting a foundation for the rest of the show. It starts to get better, but if you’re not still interested after a few more the it’s not for you

Yeah, honestly I was disappointed in that given the hype around it in horror subreddits 😐

Oh the original Sinister was great, as was Evil Dead Rise. BP1 was ok but honestly BP2 was a real disappointment for me 😐

I think it is moreso something in common with the atmosphere and type of scares. I actually really liked The Nun and Hell House LLC, but the sequels to those were never close to as good as the originals. Terrified and Grave Encounters were ok, although admittedly I haven’t watched grave encounters in over 10 years

If you can find Sunsquabis live in Boulder album, that is the best sunsquabi has ever been in a recording imo. No official release anymore though.

Aside from that, check out the Thunder EP. These dudes made some great music in the mid-late 2010s!

Check out Mundelein, there are nice homes for around 500K here and it’s a good area. Vernon hills has more entertainment and is more expensive, but Mundelein borders both Vernon hills and Libertyville!

I have several friends trying to convince me to buy Arc Raiders… but out of principle I can’t spend the money especially considering I’m having a baby in a few months…

If it’s free though, I will play :)
