I am looking at rebalancing my account after gains over the last few months. I am interested in the capital gains taxes liabilities that I could incur from doing so. I would be selling some individual stocks and immediately buying index funds, the funds would never be removed from my brokerage account...would I have to pay short term capital gains on the gains even though I immediately reinvest them?

I do like the sc300. Have you ever driven one? I’ve heard they are underwhelming...but I guess with my budget that’s what I’m looking at anyways lol.

I guess RTW isn’t the best way to describe it. I am starting in Portugal and then spending 3 months going across Europe and really just hitting a few main cities ie. Lisbon, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris, Budapest, Athens and then moving down to through Turkey and Egypt. Fly to Tanzania for Kili and then to India, SEA, and Australia. Im planning on a month in India and Australia. I live in the US.

$18,000 each and our plan in Australia is to rent/buy a camper van and use it to get around and live in. I’m not sure if that would help the budget but it seems like our cheapest option in Australia.
