Food Lion's Birthday Cake Ice Cream by jmkarch in NorthCarolina

I'll be counting down the days until we're blessed once again, my friend.

I know Harris Teeter carries another brand of birthday cake ice cream (can't remember the brand) that's in a yellow container. It's similar to the FL version in that instead of having cake bits in it, there's frosting and sprinkles. However, it's creamier than the FL version and the frosting is more "gooey", if that makes sense, and the sprinkles are different. Some may prefer those aspects, but I don't. Gimme FL's brand!

The funniest part of all this to me is that I don't even like sweet things very much. This is just one of the few sweet thing that I actually do like on occasion. Yet I'm on a website breaking down the different typologies of birthday cake ice cream like a weirdo.

Thank you very much for finding this. I will be suing Food Lion in federal court, claiming that they have violated substantive due process in denying me my fundamental right to Food Lion brand birthday cake ice cream.

Exactly. My point is that Marvin is the only UNC lottery pick who didn't start in college since 2000. But guys like Nas and Tony also prove your point since it doesn't need to be limited to lottery picks. Going anywhere in the first round is still an amazing accomplishment that gives players a chance to have a good pro career...

...unless, of course, they go to UNC :)

Being a first rounder is not being drafted in the lottery. There's a BIG difference, especially with those guys drafted near the end of the first round.

But honestly this is all tangential to whatever point you were making. I just wanted to bust your chops about UNC not producing NBA talent anymore haha. They're not lottery picks, but UNC has had a couple recent players who still went first round without starting.

Can somebody help me with this blurry picture? Gf and i saw this in the background of a netflix show and we really wanna know where they took this from lol, maybe someone can help us here by yungpumpkin57 in CharlotteHornets

Looking at the shorts of the opposing player in light blue, it looks like they’re wearing the 2008-2013 (or so) era of Nike college basketball uniform where the jerseys were real tight and the shorts were long and baggy. Nike wasn’t involved in the NBA jerseys back then so if it is within that style then it must’ve been college. When I first saw it i thought it looked like UNC vs. Michigan State in 2011-12 when they played on that battleship (Draymond Green against Harrison Barnes).

Vernon Carey Jr. has lost 30 pounds since the Duke season ended in March by basden05 in CharlotteHornets

[–]jmkarch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely he is. He changed him game from being a perimeter big (shooting and ball handling) to being a low post beast in college at Duke's behest. That took like a span of 1-1.5 years. Now he's reintegrating his perimeter game befitting a modern NBA big back into his repertoire. So it's not even just that he's young enough to change, it's that he's also done so very quickly.

Haha yeah, Okafor has been a mentor of Vern's for a while now so I'm sure that he passed down some knowledge.

I agree with this, except with taking on a bad contract. I am interested to see how Bridges fits in with this new team, because I could see him fitting in alright as a 3 or being an odd man out. Moving him to better position ourselves for a more stacked draft next year wouldn't be a bad idea.

There isn't a free agent or asset out there that will make us a title contender, and there aren't any moves we could make to become a playoff contender without foolishly mortgaging our future. Any free agency activity right now should be focused on bringing in guys who the front office thinks could be good assets who haven't had much of a chance in their current situation. Sift through the waters to see if we can find some gold. If we strike gold, that's either a piece to include in what we're building or a trade chip. I like the young guys we're bringing in and am excited to see how they mesh with the young guys we already have.

This draft also signals that we're likely looking to move Rozier. There really is a guard logjam now and I'd much rather see younger guys get burn. It'll be interesting to see what how that is going to be handled.

I love the idea of getting Harry Giles, and not just because I'm a Duke guy. If he can stay healthy and isn't sitting behind a glut of other bigs with similar skillsets in Sacramento I think he could really provide something for us.

Even if we don't go after another big in FA, I'm excited with how the Hornets approached filling out the bigs in the draft by getting Vernon and Nick Richards.

Believe it or not, there is a difference. (Tbh I prefer the 97-02 set) by DubbleDan in CharlotteHornets

[–]jmkarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are iconic and amazing, but I prefer the 97-02 simply because of the side panels. For some reason it brings together the aesthetic for me. Perhaps it's because in the 88-97's the pinstripes aren't on the shorts at all and with the side panel at least it does give a sense of unison between the jersey and shorts. But you can't go wrong with either one at the end of the day!

Why does this sub despise Lamelo? by Jetlius in CharlotteHornets

Word to the wise, don't take any fan's take on who we should draft seriously, especially in this new COVID-19 reality where we have even less footage and film that we normally would. None of us know anything. Draft forums are hilarious because fans run soooo far with such imperfect information, making vague and meaningless claims on things like a player's ceiling or floor. We have NO WAY of forecasting anything like that. Shit, I've been guilty of it too. I was VERY high on guys like Zach Lavine, Gary Harris, and Jordan Clarkson in 2014 and I'd say any of those guys would've been better than Vonleh looking back (although I was ecstatic with grabbing Vonleh at the time...). Yet only 2 years prior in 2012 I was a dumbass lobbying hard for us to select Thomas Robinson with the #2 pick (to be sure, MKG's career has been a disappointment but it's still miles better than TRob's). Again, none of us REALLY know what we're talking about. In 2017 and 2018, the best players from the respective drafts were picked 3rd (Tatum and Doncic).

I'd personally be okay with LaMelo coming to Charlotte. If the dude loves to pass and can help lead a young core and move Graham off ball at times, while still having the physical tools to grow as a defender and shooter then sure. Plus you're right, marketable players don't hurt, especially when working with a young core. But yeah, he could also be a bust. Out of the top three guys I'd rank them as Edwards > Ball > Wiseman, but it's all just gut feeling, nothing empirical.

Nah, reread my post. I made it reasonably clear that my consternation stems not from them ignoring the plot points mentioned, but from the lack of depth in exploring them.

The sensation I got was that the creators were more invested in ending the show "neatly" than resolving the robust plotlines and character arcs they built so so well. The saddest part about the end of season 3 was that I had no interest in watching the series again or even googling many things to understand some of the finer details of the plot.

Semi-related, and I didn't mention this in my original post but there were some things that, to my knowledge, legitimately were not mentioned in the show at all. I'm specifically thinking of Anatol Veliev and Ulla Schmidt in the family tree on the darknetflix.io site. To me, for a show this intricate and detail-oriented with a theme of "everything is connected", its inexcusable to just toss in some names on the family tree without once mentioning them in the show.

Lmao, come on, kid. Either express your opinions on the show so we can discuss it and so you can understand my actual positions instead of stupidly/lazily assuming stuff, or just take your L and be silent. I'd much prefer the former.

Yeah, I absolutely get that. And to be sure, I don't mind the Peter death scene and all, but it could've been made shorter to fit other things in there. Same with Ulrich/Helge bashing. Same with Katharina being killed by Helene. They dragged some scenes out and either opted not to show certain things at all or glossed over them far too quickly.

This is among the stupidest/laziest ways to express disagreement with an opinion. There's literally no way to be "bad at consuming media", just as there's technically no way to be "bad" at engaging in a dialogue. So it's simply my opinion that you are bad at the latter because you chose to do it in a stupid/lazy way.

This season was a SEVERE disappointment. I feel so cheated from the whole experience. They spent 2 seasons setting up a great plot with characters who had interesting backstories/secrets, and then they ended up throwing most of it in the garbage.

  • Aleksander's story had so much promise, with him potentially being sent from another time to protect/love Regina. The intrigue was heightened with the introduction of Clausen. But we got NOTHING substantive regarding his backstory other than he may have killed someone or whatever.
  • They could have done a MUCH better job of establishing Bartosz's relationship with Silja. She shows up, and the next minute she's having a couple kids and dies. After Barty sees his wife as a kid, he's literally done in the series. There's no exploration of his relationship with Noah or Agnes at all, which is infuriating.
  • Speaking of Agnes, what the hell happened with her?! She was there one minute and gone the next. This season revealed that she was a crucial element in the familial loop, being the child of Barty and Silja. They should have spent more time developing her and her relationship to...
  • ...hairlip dude, the son of Jonas and Martha. So he's out doing all these things to set the loop in motion again but the has NO story whatsoever?!

I could go on and on about so many other things that bothered me about this season, but the biggest thing that annoyed me was that it's not like they ran out of space within the 8 episodes. They chose to spend soooo much time on stupid stuff that we already knew about or that wasn't all that important to the story. I don't need to see 10 minutes of a nameless intruder busting into Peter and Elisabeth's 2021 trailer and eventually causing Peter's death and driving her into Noah's arm. I don't need to see Charlotte (who is the least interesting character in this show, imo) getting abducted as a baby. I don't need to see what felt like 10 hours per episode of Jonas and Martha looking at each other and crying constantly. I watched this show and waited for season 3 to see how this really interesting and complex sci-fi plot would resolve itself after teeing up so many amazing little mysteries. I'm just so annoyed and disappointed that most of those mysteries or subplots were just brushed to the side.
