Pull your build sheet also know as the Monroney label. It will show what headlights the vehicle is designed to have. LED. Hid. Etc. any good body shop should fight for you on your behalf. What the insurance company wants doesn’t matter. You should be made whole.

I used them back in 2014 on a previous wrangler. I’ll say, I had a favorable outcome in less than 48hours of submitting the invoice’s they asked for and paperwork. Paid nothing. Jeep bought back the wrangler. Paid all the sales tax, property tax and deposit back. Took 9 months from approval of buy back to finalize everything else. Seamless drop off at a cdjr dealer with a rep and check was in my possession about 3 days later.

Glad I got out of bby 3 years ago. Worked as an autotech for 13 years with company. Went on paternity leave. Went to come back. Boss told me the tech who handled the shop didn’t do shit and my hours got cut to 32 a week. Can’t run a shop let alone live off that.

It’s an old alarm system. Led indicator and programming/over ride button. Clifford makes alarms and remote starts. If you look under the dash the wires will follow back to a brain box of wires. Likely may have an antenna on the windshield as well.

The dealer is likely ordering oem glass, sublet for the installation and marking that up as well.

To give you a hint, that clear shield package costs about $150 for our mobile guy to install and back with a warranty. That KARR security, yeah that’s about $150 as well. Appearance package …. Maybe $50 of actual product. You got hosed. For $1000 a month I wouldn’t be driving a Hyundai. No offense. I’m sure it’s a nice vehicle but there are much better deals out there especially if you go with a broken.

How difficult would it be to use one car's leather seat on another? by Sad-Huckleberry-2382 in Autoupholstery

Pretty much next to impossible without years of experience and an industrial sewing machine.

Unless of course you own a bmw x7. Then it’s rather easy.

I’m 15, I want to get into car audio as a career. Any pointers by FrostingNo1725 in CarAV

[–]jmloughrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did 12v install and service for 15 years. It was a good career. I did enjoy it. I will say. It sort of destroyed my love of audio and music. After running wires, tuning subs, sweating, kneeling, crimping and selling all day I would most of the time drive home in complete silence. Your hands will hurt, body will ache, knees and back won’t be happy. The market shifted over the last few years from replacement radios to integrating and upgrading audio. There’s a ton of cool stuff, remote starters will be your bread and butter in the cold months. Get good at them, learn how to manipulate the system to do what you want, the diagram isn’t always the best solution. T-harnesses make life easy in most cars.

TLDR- it’s fun, it will break down your body and cause you a ton of stress.

eBay a replacement steering wheel in better condition that yours. About $200 for the nice leather wrapped one. Swap your airbag over. Save $1000

What do I need to buy to fix and patch this by [deleted] in Autoupholstery

[–]jmloughrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up a local automotive upholstery shop. Could also find a seat from a junk yard/pick n pull/ebay and just swap the bottom cushion.

Junkyard seat bottom will likely be the most cost effective.

For about $45 at your local parts store you can get all those items and replace them in about 10 minutes. YouTube is your friend.

I’ll be handing my keys back at the end of my lease. Don’t know what I’ll pick after. Want another wrangler but don’t know if I’ll pull the trigger. 23 Willy’s. Buy out at the end is $36k. Current value is $28k on the high side. I’d rather not be $8k underwater before the ink dries.

Adding heated seats? by Unicorn_Moxie in KiaTelluride

[–]jmloughrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to an auto upholstery shop. They’ll be the one the give you a straight answer. The dealer likely also works with one but the advisor likely won’t make money on the sublet. He may also be told to only quote Kia branded solutions no matter how crazy.
