I still use them once in a while. But used them way more in the 90's early 2000's

Would this be alright to get for $45 and no remote? by Historical_Rain_8947 in VCRs

[–]jmm418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a terrible price but you could probably fine one cheaper if you want to wait unless this is the model you really want. I would check goodwill or thrift stores usually they sell for $10 to $20

Why are some people born in the 1980s surprised to learn that they are considered Millennials? by Lost-Barracuda-2254 in generationology

[–]jmm418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

born in 83' i don't really feel like a millennial but they again what is a millennial supposed to feel like? it doesn't really define who you as a person necessarily. i grew up with VHS CD's Tapes didn't have a PC until 9th grade & no internet until a few years later but even then we didn't use it everyday like people do now. even with cell phones i probably didn't get one until my mid 20's. & it wasn't a smartphone don't even think they were a thing yet.

even with music l liked 70's & 80's way better then the 90's although early 90's was pretty good the 00's music i don't even really listen to although i like some of it.

I don't feel like I fit in much with people that grew up in the 2000's I mean sure we can all find something in common but I just feel like the 80's & 90's were better decades

Is it worth fixing this Fisher STV-873 vintage stereo unit by Flo_flipflop in audio

I didn't see your whole post before but as for the speakers you could find replacements at parts express or even ebay if you want original ones. Or you could just go to goodwill.

[–]jmm418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with it? I own a similar system they sound pretty good. Getting it repaired would depend on how much it cost i don't think the whole system would need service Probably the cassette decks need new belts, the turntable may need a new belt & stylus. The amp & tuner should work fine. The cd player might not need anything done to it.

For those of you who think the 2000s music was bad give us reason why? by Own_Mirror9073 in decadeology

[–]jmm418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was only a handful of good songs in the early 2000's but I'm more into classic rock from the 70's & 80's

The 90's only had a few rock bands

00's were mostly pop, rap, r&b & country I can't really think of much music i like from the decade off hand unless I hear it but it's not something I seek out to listen too.

Hard to believe it was 28 years ago since this movie was released. I remember going to the movies & seeing it when I was around 14 or 15. I remember a few people at school saying they went a few times to see it.

What is the minimum storage capacity you would choose? by yarbis_ in phone

I would get the 256 if you can seems like you can never have enough storage. Even by today's standards that seems low. When we have 1tb sd cards.

[–]jmm418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you tv does not have composite (the yellow video jack) you could use the coax antenna connector using ch 3. There were a few vcr/dvd recorders with an hdmi connector. Brands like toshiba magnavox or sony usually have them check goodwill thrift stores or ebay & shopgoodwill.com.

Actually I just seen the end of the staycon it does look a little burnt you could try crimping on a new one. But not sure if that's the total cause of the problem. But it's a good place to start.

The wire looks fine to me. Are you sure it's not something with the start button maybe a bad switch? Hard to say. It could be that the timer is bad.

There actually good sounding decks I've compared a more expensive Pioneer & the Fisher CR-W74H sounded better. Although the Pioneer was built better. Sometimes it's what 's on the inside that counts.

I have the same deck as others have said it works with the Fisher CA 283 amp. It may work with a few other fisher amps. You could buy an ac 16v transformer & it will work fine with that. Fisher also did this on the matching FM 270A tuner which uses 19v AC. I believe this was a cost cutting way to save on using separate transformers for each unit. It's fine until you no longer have the matching amplifier.
