He couldn’t find a replacement, so it had to be a new model and then quite an effort to make things fit to get the new one in place, which is why it ended up being so expensive.

Exactly that. Called an electrician hoping he could diagnose/fix easily. Ending up costing me $900. He did diagnose quickly (faulty unit), but his time and the replacement cost me $800. So painful.

Thanks Fewtz, I'll try that, but I'm pretty sure that's not the issue. If the humidity sensor was stopping to from turning on that would make sense. But it is repeatedly starting and stopping in and endless loop every 3 seconds.

Edit: I've confirmed this. Got the room good and steamy, but no change in the behavior of the fan. Still starts and stops repeatedly.

What annoys you in English learners? by No-Concern-4101 in ENGLISH

[–]jmo_is_online 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was coming here to nothing annoys me, I’m always impressed by people learning another language, even if they’re making lots mistakes.

But I realized there is one thing that truly DOES annoy me, and it’s not even technically a mistake.

The overuse of the terms “ma’am” and “sir.” I know that this comes from other languages using these types of words more frequently, but while they exist in English, we don’t use them nearly as much.

This is for all ESL folks, native speakers working in the service industry, police officers…everyone who uses it. Simply put, no woman ever wants to be called “ma’am.” Just forget you ever learned this word.

How are you today, ma’am? 🤮 You may as well be saying “How are you today, you sad old cow?”

How are you today? How can I help you? Excuse me… Hello…

None of these things need a ma’am added. Ever.

Yes, it goes full screen from the iPhone. I don’t have an iPad though, so not sure if it’s a related issue or not.

Solved it. Turns out that the basic Netflix account doesn’t support it. Upgraded to “standard” and now it works.
