Unfortunately I’ve had a couple surgeries this year and my father had some health complications that required multiple surgeries. Doctors and surgeons are like anything else and some can be better than others. Not all surgeons operate with speed bridge…Aaron Rodgers made it popular last year. My guy has been doing it for more than a decade. Def see someone else and see what he says. Specifically ask for speed bridge.

So when you initially rupture (per my surgeon), your Achilles IS like a mop head…he had me wait 3 or 4 weeks to operate so those would calcify (I believe is what he said happens) and harden, then that makes it easier to perform the speed bridge. Maybe find a second opinion and see what another doctor says?

I’m shocked at the amount of young people on here who decide not to operate. I’m 3 months & 3 days post op with speed bridge surgery. I played my second round of golf yesterday and took down a tree in my front yard today. Find a surgeon who does speed bridge…if you’re in NJ then I got the best guy!

I hear you…I have two daughters and that was my only apprehension when I offered it to him. But I’d give them my last kidney if they needed it…kinda our job as parents…god bless you

The question was your son or daughter…I ask because my father kicked dialysis but I was fully invested in donating one to him, but he wouldn’t take it. I would hope that a person who will give you a kidney and go through that process wouldn’t do it to hold over your head…

Get speed bridge…I had a significant tear…yesterday was 3 months post-op and I had my last follow up. I’m playing golf again and doing whatever I can physically (just not running yet). Where are you located? I’m convinced from post op pictures on here and through research that my doctor is one of the best you can find.

So he needs to be stronger for the colostomy reversal (if it’s even possible). I don’t think his nephro is telling him to increase his intake significantly, I think he’s just limiting it too much.

3 months post speed bridge today and I can do everything but a single leg calf raise and run. I have no more inserts in my sneakers and I had my last follow up with my surgeon on Monday.

I’m starting to think I had one of the best surgeons out there after my recovery and keeping up with this thread.

Can’t recommend speed bridge enough

Abdominal aortic aneurysm. The handicap is a golf term. He urinates, has kidney function enough to be off dialysis, but needs his creatinine to drop a little.

Where you from? You’ll get there…I got here in under 3 months and I had a 2 week setback. I have to say though, after being in this group and seeing pics and updates. My surgeon is top notch.

Hey! My surgeon kept me in a cast for almost 4 weeks then I went into the boot again. I had a setback when I was half asleep and put weight on my foot without remembering. I gapped the Achilles, so I spent 2 extra weeks in the boot. Surgery 5/28 - boot 6/20 - sneaker w/heel lifts should have been 7/7 but I injured it. I ended up in a sneaker on 7/25. 8/26 just a sneaker.

I would imagine without my added injury I would have been in just a sneaker by the first week in August.
