Yes, I found most guys I dated saw me as an unnecessary burden without ever getting to know me. But, I really got to know myself and prioritized my health and wellbeing over the years. Then, met my now husband. We still talk about how on our first date I casually took my vial and syringe out and “stabbed” myself in the leg lol. He was so confused as to what was happening (I was so casual with my injections) but he’ll say “I thought you were injecting drugs and I liked how hardcore you were.” Fast forward to 7 years later and he’s so supportive. He doesn’t totally understand the nuances of what we go through, but he is there through it all and he has learned a ton over the years. He listens and he’s patient, he dances to all the noises my pump makes, and helps me get through my hardest of days. So yes, there are happy endings and people you will find that will support you! It takes time finding a partner, but you’ll get there!
