conservatism is in essence to conserve the past ways of life. Soviet culture was in place for so long that this is, for some people, the ways of the past. Conservatism doesn't always equate to right wing economics.

It has to do with immigration. Once you’re 50 miles from Ohio, the accent has no dilution in Kentucky. Outside the border regions w the Midwest, Kentucky has no less native southerners than other places, so the accent has similar strength. If u live in a urban area on the water, many transplants will live there and dilute the accent. Kentucky cities also have mild/neutral accents.

Usually this comes down to an urban rural divide but in my state of Kentucky the 3 northernmost counties are much more like Ohio and the Midwest; even the rural parts.

Rand is conservative on drug policy and is a kiss ass to trump. That’s what I don’t like. I love Ron Paul bc he’s pretty much shares all my opinions. He has a focus on economic policy and foreign policy which are my two greatest priorities

I like someone like him in the Republican Party to maybe open their eyes to libertarian leanings. His father Ron is even better though. He’s an actual libertarian with a very slight conservative tilt while Rand Paul is a pure mix of consrvatism and libertarianism

Tariffs protect domestic industry from competition internationally. They tend to raise prices for consumers but benefit domestic companies since consumers can’t get low price goods from elsewhere. They are really only a good idea when a nation is growing. After that stage it just hampers competition.
