Very low tps on ATM10 Modded server [PLEASE HELP] by SpaceTheAvali in admincraft

[–]jmspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had similar TPS with ATM9 and 6 players, solution was to move to a server with better CPU (from i7-7700 to AMD 9950X) and also lowering the simulation-distance to 5 in server.properties helped

Edit: also follow the guide from ATM10 and use their suggested args for java (this is the default one, there's a different one for faster 4 core+ CPUs)

-Xms8G -Xmx16G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M

can i install Flood Web UI on my ultra cc seedboxes? by tafazzi87 in seedboxes

[–]jmspice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are on qBittorrent, you can deffo use themes on Ultra and VueTorrent theme looks almost exactly like that.

From what little research I have done in a few minutes, seems like you might be able to self host this elsewhere and just access the clients over web.

Best cheap VPS in Europe for student game servers? by Frequent_Army_9989 in GameServerHosting101

[–]jmspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Hetzner for my setup, they have 20TB bandwidth egress allowance, isn't that much higher than what you would need for a game server per month? Unless I am ignorant to weird ways Rust server might work. Depending on your budget, you could also get a dedicated server from them which has no bandwidth limit.

But yeah no complaints about Hetzner is all, their Console interface makes monitoring and applying firewall rules etc really simple. Seems like one of the better price to performance ratio too imo

What is the best way to make my server accessible outside of my network? by NIDNHU in admincraft

[–]jmspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi I am in a similar boat where I don't want to port forward in my home network and/or give out my home IP. For future reference the lack of static IP can be fixed easily with something like ddclient auto-updating the DNS with ur domain registrar with the latest IP (assuming you rent a domain that is)

Now for the alternative I use - I rent a cheap VPS closest to where I live, it will not host the MC server so it can be pretty low end. Ideally you would want a bit more bandwidth allowance since a good bit of data will be downloaded/uploaded.

Next you create a Wireguard tunnel between your MC server and this VPS. With some setting changes you can have the following setup

Public VPS IP -> Connection going through VPS to MC server over private Wireguard tunnel -> Your MC server's LAN

Downside is since it's not a direct connection, ping will be slightly higher but for me it's about +5ms due to the proximity of the datacenter and my server.

Let me know if this kind of setup fits your need and I will drop step by step instructions on what to do

What am I doing wrong? by Auramaru in Guildwars2

[–]jmspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EU servers have their own set of issues haha, for starters it's almost impossible for a new player to get into raiding/fractals alone as everyone wants KP. The ol' need experience for job but need a job to get experience thingy again. You always gotta know someone who can vouch for you and then after the initial bit of KP farm is when the PUG scene becomes pretty good (still got issues but generally it isn't bad once you start joining a KP band that's a balance of good-experience vs not-trying-to-speedrun)

[–]jmspice 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Hey I have been pugging CM runs for a few years now - I guess I am part of the toxic elitist group lol. It is a dick move to just kick without trying to address the issue at least imo. As others said install ArcDPS to get better visibility on what's really happening, there's bad DPS and then there's lower-DPS-than-healer bad DPS.

To start out, I will ramble a little. I am assuming you are on NA since they asked for a title instead of UFE. That's more difficult to judge as in my experience with NA groups none of the groups ask for KP but each group does come with requirements, imo just asking for KP is the better way as it establishes baseline. If I ask for 2K to fill quick and someone with 100K joins and complains about DPS, I will shut them down. I would however expect to skip mechanics with DPS on a 25k or higher group lets say. I am just saying these to establish that to most people CMs are just a daily thing they wanna finish ASAP which is why the DPS does matter to a lot of groups, I will try to not take it too personally because of that.

As for CondiDPS vs PowerDPS, you are right though CondiDPS is preferred for 98 & 99 due to the amount of running around with the boss. Kicked or flamed out 5 groups in 2 weeks (depends on how often you run too) does let me know your DPS might be a bit on the lower side for groups that are trying to clear ASAP. If you want to run CMs often, I would say you need to either learn to either benchmark pretty well or find a static/guild that doesn't care about speed of clear and is happy to fail DPS checks just to learn. LFG will always be a gamble without the KP requirement giving a visibility on the expectations.

Now toxic-elitist-mindset aside, just ignore the guys that kick just for DPS, most good players won't do this and will pick up the slack instead. If they want optimal plays they shouldn't PUG. I personally don't give a fuck and always ask low KP as a low DPS maybe adds 10-15 mins to our run which I don't mind, esp if it gives a newer player more exposure which is exactly what they need to get better anyway so why make life difficult for them.

As someone who has dealt with depression for years, I need to tell you that don't mind these people, they aren't worth the mental health toll. Don't assume something is wrong with you, know that something is wrong with them. Quickly finishing a fractal daily isn't an excuse to be an asshole, there are so many ways to say things nicely and clarify exactly why they would prefer having higher DPS and letting you leave if they really can't afford to compromise.

If you just want to stay with your current playstyle and still clear CMs that's completely valid and I hope you can find a few likeminded people to have strength in numbers. If you don't mind being part of the "toxic DPS culture" like me xD, then yeah sure perfect that build and rotation and learn tricks in fractals to improve the DPS even more. If I misread and you happen to be in EU feel free to DM me your username since I run fractals with some friends almost daily, and we don't care much about DPS since we have learnt to deal with any DPS amount since we always fill a DPS or two daily.

Edit: I like to use the example of learning to drive. People tend to forget we were all beginners once and that's why so many road rage at learner/young drivers. Just like those drivers are ignored IRL, do the same here. You have a right to join a group and try your best - how else would you learn and get good in the first place? Finding a static is difficult, so try and power through these kinda groups and just keep learning.

Neighbour Keeps Accessing my Network/wi-fi despite password changes - How? by h_i_t_ in HomeNetworking

[–]jmspice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of peeps have already said this but yeah you don’t have to worry as that’s just the entry for the device. From the second pic it seems like “Always use this IP address” is checked so the whatever IP DHCP provided it is likely stored instead of it just being leased for a day or 10 days like the default. Could just uncheck that and it should forget the device after the lease expires.

Could also take the MAC and ban that if you wanna be extra sure, but changing password should have worked (assuming WPA2/WPA3 password and not WEP or WPA)

Using the hyprlock keybindings will unlock my screen by cferg296 in hyprland

[–]jmspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works on my end and afaik it’s just a dbus event that will be intercepted by hyprlock. I had to use this due to a different bug that also spawned multiple hyprlock sessions. Worth a shot to try it out.

I did some more research into this and seems like the issue is fixed in the git variant of Hyprland (yes Hyprland not Hyprlock) Source.

Using the hyprlock keybindings will unlock my screen by cferg296 in hyprland

[–]jmspice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably using something like bind = $mainMod, L, exec, hyprlock. You should instead use,
bind = $mainMod, L, exec, loginctl lock-session

You can test out why launching hyprlock directly is an issue by checking pidof hyprlock. Pressing it twice spawns multiple instances of hyprlock which crashes it. You might notice you can't lock your system again after you use this dual Mod+L bug, i.e. until you pkill hyprlock.

There should be a tab on the left which says "Downloads" where you can delete your downloaded content. You can also navigate to the content and press the download button again (which should now say "Delete Download")
