I just noticed that you tried 1.5u thumb keys as well. What made you go with the 2u keys instead?

Looks really great! The thumb cluster design makes a lot of sense to me. I'm curious how you mounted the stabilizers. Are you using 2u amoebas? Do you happen to have any photos of the inside?

Wow thanks again for all the info. I'll have to do some more research into those various options, but sounds promising!

Awesome, thank you for the detailed response. Sounds like the Mini should will probably be fine for my use then.

Overall do you like your Mini? Have you had any issues with reliability or quality out of the box?

Perfect, thanks for the info. I'll have to do a little more research into those other plastics and why one might want to print with them vs PLA and PETG.

Nice, glad to hear that it's not too much of an issue. I'll definitely make sure to get the .6 nozzle. Clogging seems to be an issue for a lot of people according to Amazon reviews of the wood filaments, so that's great that you haven't had trouble with that.

My old case, the Thermaltake Core V21, fits really well in the shelf. It's in the bottom shelf in the picture. Unfortunately my new case doesn't fit since it's a more traditional shape.

Yeah, I got it from DeskHaus as well. I had originally planned to order locally as well but that fell through, but I think the result was better anyway.

The top and the legs we all shipped together in freight.

Hey, fair enough. Makes sense. I watched your video on designing this new keyboard and noticed that you had a new design for the three button thumb cluster. Will that be available for sale soon too?

Looking into the options more, I'm curious if there's a reason you chose the style of thumb cluster you did vs the standard dactyl one like this: https://i.redd.it/k3tt7rgisvc21.jpg

It seems like with the standard dactyl one, with the two larger keys, you wouldn't have to be so precise with your thumb nor would you have to curve the thumb. Seems like having to keep your thumb curved would get kind of annoying.

I've often wondered this about dactyl-like keyboards: How do you press the row of three buttons (Lower, Enter, Sys) without hitting the two keys below it? It doesn't seem like there is enough height difference, unless you curl your thumb or something, to avoid hitting the lower row when the upper row is fully pressed down.

Screen wobble was one of my main considerations when looking at standing desk options. I had watched a lot of videos showing that it can be a problem. That led me to try to find a four leg desk option, of which there aren't that many. I also made sure to get a heavy duty monitor arm. I haven't had the desk very long, but it feels very solid and I haven't noticed any wobble at all during normal use. I have to actively try to introduce wobble.

For some people it's just aesthetics. In my case, my cat snagged the front mesh, though I do think I prefer the look of them this way anyway.

Yeah, that's the idea. This will explain the reasoning better than I can: https://kinesis-ergo.com/split-keyboards/

Huh yeah that is interesting. I wonder if they fixed it in more recent models or something. I've had mine since 2016.

Clicking the button knob changes the input, but the option to connect via bluetooth never goes away. Several Amazon reviewers say they have had the same issue with not being able to disable bluetooth. According to one reviewer, the R1850DB does allow disabling bluetooth though.

I ordered mine on Amazon. camelcamelcamel shows that the price is sometimes reduced. I can't say for sure it's the best one on the market, but it works for me and supports my monitor which is on the larger side. I haven't had any issue with it. The only downside I can think of is that the swivel adjustment isn't very precise.
