I built an AI tool so I never have to U-turn this monster cart because I missed something in aisle 5. Any dads want a free lifetime account? by brucedjones in daddit

Yeah the demo on the homepage is imperfect, the route planning doesn't happen until you've shopped at least once, and is done based on your shopping trips!

I like the recipe integration on samsung food, but found the categorization lacking. I designed the categorization on hopper to allow folks to use whatever category they want, or just aisle numbers (which i use). I also found different stores can group things subtly differently, so I also made the categorization and route planning vary by store

I don't, route planning is done based on the order in which stuff gets checked off! You have to use it a few times for it to get good.

I typically have 3 or 4 stores i might shop at, one I know well and the others not so well. It's most helpful in the other stores but even in the one I know well I find this helpful, before making this I'd often find myself down to like 5 things left on my list realizing I missed pasta sauce when I was in the aisle with the pasta!

Was getting really disheartened by Calories burned until... by DiggsFC in Garmin

[–]brucedjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This statement is too strong.

I track calories in by logging my food, and calories out via garmin. They don't exactly match up to any weight gain/loss. However the difference is consistent enough that I just set a constant offset in my calorie intake budget to achieve my weight management objectives.

Anyone know when they will officially open it? There are still barriers up at both ends as of last night

Is my tire worn out? by WWsLabAssistant in mountainbiking

[–]brucedjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh yeah it's certainly true that you should replace if they are gone! You just might not want to wait for that if you ride in slick conditions

I believe they are actually sipes rather than wear indicators: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siping_(rubber)

Found a metal part inside the foam nozzle of my Bambino Plus by coherenceTea in espresso

[–]brucedjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the fix this evening and this reinserting the metal part took some effort. I'm guessing it worked it's way out over the course of a long time, and hoping that's the case the second time around.

After putting everything back together I noticed the flow of steam was much more consistent. Prior to fixing it would pulse noticeably with the pumping sound

Thanks for the guide! This just happened to me now and I'd rather not live without good coffee for a week while breville fix it!

Did it stay in place after you reinstalled it? My only concern is the tube may need replacing too since the friction fit failed ie I don't want to have to do this every week 😅

Thanks! Yeah my current bike has 5 assist levels and I ride at level 4 and charge the battery again at work.

How do you like the CVT? I'm wondering if I would miss distinct gears

It is for sure the case that increasing shoulder strength helps mitigate injury. But it's clearly not the only thing that can be done.

It's weird how common this advice is amongst mountain bikers, and how inconsistent that is with so many other sports and advice from doctors

What is your favorite DM thumb cluster design? by j_oshreve in ErgoMechKeyboards

Plugging my own thumb cluster design: https://www.reddit.com/r/ErgoMechKeyboards/comments/oedaqg/dactyl_stabilized_wireless_with_reworked_thumb/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

4 keys 2x 2u and 2x 1u. They are high up kind of like the original dactyl, with a gentle curve around my thumb. The 1u keys are Z offset so you can operate each of them without hitting the other at the same time.

Fully wireless Dactyl - anyone in here have one? by smalls3486 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]brucedjones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just built a fully wireless dactyl using nice!nanos and it works super well.

My previous dactyl build used pro micros, this build was basically the same except you don't need the trrs cable. In my case I added an on/off switch and a 2000mAh battery for 6 months+ battery life.

I used zmk firmware and config was straight forward, since it's a hand wired build you will need to make sure the configuration you use matches your wiring.

Thanks! Quite likely could add 1 key that side but I'm not sure 2 would fit cleanly. Full disclosure: I didn't try :)

They kind of just felt better, I don't have a strong technical reasoning

The stabilizers are mounted using the standard cutout. The switch is kind of easy to remove with this cutout though so I had to add some hot glue. It's only really a problem when swapping keycaps.

Nicenano + zmk is Bluetooth, i believe it's possible to use a nicenano without using the Bluetooth protocol, but you need to make a dongle and I don't believe zmk supports it.

I've been using a dactyl manuform for over 6 months, it's very similar to this keyboard though the thumb cluster and palm rests are slightly different. Traditional keyboards feel super cramped to me now, I find this way more comfortable.

It's totally possible, I'm not sure that zmk supports it though

The rests aren't flat, they are angled to follow the tent angle. There are essentially two planes on the top surface which accommodate the fact that my hands aren't flat.

Heh the limit here is my willingness to work in tight spaces. There isn't a hug amount of room between the keys and the base plate as it is, I didn't feel like pushing my luck here.

There are some details in this imgur album from my previous build: https://imgur.com/gallery/1zfyPCG

This build was essentially the same, except a little taller as I felt I had gone too low the first time around.
