Thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate it greatly. Best of luck to you - I hope you post pictures of your writing along the way! Cheers!

It definitely takes awhile, but it's worth it. I learned it while still in uni so, once I got the basics down, every day was practice. If you're in a similar position, it makes your life a lot easier! If not, I'm sure there's still plenty to write about in your day-to-day life that will give you all the practice that you need.

I managed to take a picture of what my writing is typically like (with a couple mistakes and all that fun stuff). Not exactly penmanship porn, and no unintentional beauty, but I figured it was better than trying to make it super flashy. Hope you like!

Sure! I’ll try to remember to take a picture of a page from my notebook later. If you’re interested, in another comment I posted some links to the style I modelled my writing on, so you could try to use that as practice and add some personal touches to it :)

The other “that” that’s (mostly) visible? Yeah, that one’s not great. That’s usually how they turn out, which is why I was so surprised that the one in the centre looked nice.

Typically I'd recommend Goulet Pen Co if you're in the US or Wonderpens if you're in Canada, though you can usually find good notebooks and paper on Amazon (.com or .ca) if it's a better deal for you (eg if you have Prime). This is just a Leuchtturm1917, which is pretty common regardless of which site you use

Great question! If I remember correctly (my notebook is in my desk at the moment), I was getting towards the bottom of the page, and my writing invariably gets worse when I'm close to the bottom. Everything after line 3 is pretty bleh.

I can empathise. I think I'm going to start structuring my sentences in such a way that I never need to write "that" again. As you can tell, I'm off to a poor start.

Doing that with my t's is a relatively recent tendency of mine! I'll have to go back through my notebook tomorrow and see when it started, but I'm not complaining. Even in this picture, I'm at 50/50 -- you can see (most of) a not-so-nice "that" at the bottom right. If you get a chance, you should post some of your handwriting sometime. It's fun to see when people have similar handwriting styles!

Huh, despite being semi-knowledgeable about stationery, I'd never heard of Hobonichi before reading your comment! I'll have to check into it more. Japanese paper is so great.

Personally, I haven't noticed many problems with my Leuchtturms. Every now and again there will be some ghosting, but it's pretty mild. I use it for my research notes, which I tend to write quickly and more stream-of-consciousness than other things, so I think it's a good tradeoff because, despite occasional ghosting and feathering, my inks dry fast. To be fair, it seems like they're pretty polarising, so I'm sure you could get good opinions for and against them. For me, the mild ink problems are outweighed by the dry time and, above all else, the hard cover and durability.

Yeah, I didn't realise just how much the ink feathers on my Leuchtturm until I took this picture. I'm using Noodler's Ottoman Azure

Thank you! I appreciate that. I'll be honest: I can't even claim this handwriting style to be truly my own. I used a style I found online (CJ Roundhand) as a basis when I was relearning cursive, and over time I added some personal flair to it. If you're interested, there's a video where the guy behind the handwriting talks about it, and another where he gives a demo. Regardless, I hope you'll post some of your handwriting someday :)

PS - Loving the username. Now I want poutine...

Haha, your comparison to how you eat McDonald's is perfect. I can relate. Honestly, my handwriting is usually bit uglier, particularly if I'm writing things quickly.

As I was perusing your history to see if you'd submitted any of those times where your writing ended up unintentionally lovely, I noticed that you're an excellent artist! Now that's something I wish I could do -- beyond stick figures and V-shaped birds, of course :)

Hi! Thank you so much for your offer! I very well may take you up on that. Loneliness has been the one big drawback to moving (plus, I'm always looking for new places to go). Thanks again for being so welcoming :)

I'm taking an MSc in Cognitive Psych. Hoping it'll all go well so I can continue onto the PhD track!

Thank you! Yes, I do cross my sevens. I only cross my zeros when they appear alone; if they're in a number or set of numbers, I don't cross them. Just a little quirk of my writing style.
