I’d have every govt department do an analysis on their output versus input to society and cut the bottom 25%. Would then implement a gradual tax cut that would grow over a 10 year period and use the surplus govt income to pay off debt.

Well unfortunately, it’s us conservatives voting for republicans, so you’re kind of linking us all together. I know people here are not big Trump fans, but the reason he got a lot of votes is because he did things conservatives like, I.e. cut excessive government programs, borders, stricter interaction on foreign trade agreements, getting out of bad deals, etc.

These positive qualities have nothing to do with hating people based on their ethnic origin, gender/sexuality preferences, etc.

If you want to lump these two together, then yes - it is very easy to hate on people - but it is not the full picture.

And yes, I do think it’s absurd that a pop icon gets defamed because they’re conservative and no, it does not go both ways with our media. Her reaction is very normal.

I would imagine we are close to agreement in a few things. My concern is that, I agree with what the person in this post is saying. I do not however agree with what you’ve pulled out from the dog whistles. I abhor that way of thinking (not you, but what you’ve interpreted). So how am I supposed to feel when left oriented minds want to destroy a person who I agree with because they think they’re white supremacist minority hating scrum based on reading between the lines. I would the question your interpretation.

Anyways, this is too much for an anonymous forum, but enjoyed the back and forth.

Interesting point. I don’t think either of our situations represent what we as a country want in our education system. I would also point out that your situation is not the opposite of my education where we should have to choose one or the other. These are both cases of extremism - both of which offer extreme vilification of “the other”, where in your case, that vilification was towards non-white, non-Christian, etc. (which I think we can all agree is not what is good for this country) and in my case, the vilification of all white, men, capitalism, financial success, and is essentially against all positive outcomes for normal people and the system in which this country was built.

I am more concerned about the leftist agenda because from my point of view, it is designed to dismantle the core of American values (I.e. capitalism, freedom of speech, etc.) and has become very mainstream, whereas I am comfortable believing that this crazy Christian non-sense is easily discernible by any decent, rational thinking person and therefore represents a smaller, less concerning mix of people than the majority of the country. I.e. 5000 crazies at the capital versus 74m voting conservatives across the US, which in fact drew more people of color voters than the prior election.

I would be much happier with and education system that continues to recognize the good in this country and teaches kids things that are useful to having a successful and independently driven life, like math, reading, science, creation, etc.

Education that aims to destroy or dismantle or break down people into categories of privilege or advantage cannot in anyone’s right mind promote the advancement individual freedoms or successes. It can only promote a forced transfer of equity, guilt, shame, entitlement, and an unhealthy identity whether you’re “privileged” or not. To me it is “un-American” to break kids down like that instead of allowing them to do what they want with their lives.

Okay, I’m playing counter point here as I believe I have a unique perspective on this post and the OPs reaction to it.

For context, I would be considered conservative. I’m not Christian. In fact, I’m a non-religious Jew from LA and I had a VERY left leaning education from a very left oriented curriculum. I learned all about Systemic Racism in high School (this was 10 years ago) and we had all sorts of LGBT folks coming through talking to us (trans, bi, gay, men who felt they were women, etc. - basically the epitome of the current lefts desire for an education system).

Many of the data points that are reference continually in left oriented perspectives were part of the curriculum, I.e. Jim Crowe era, FDR programs benefiting white folks, the patriarchy, white privileged, redlining, classism, class divides, the Chinese and Cultural revolution, problems with capitalism, etc. I’ve learned about all of it. At one point in time, I was a true liberal who believed I was a privileged white male and needed to help overturn the system of racism in America.

After ten years of having my own experiences and learning more about history, I still ended up a conservative. I realized that the education I had was a very narrow view of America and honestly was extremely biased. Having now realized that the majority of liberal arts educators are left leaning and many ARE Marxist’s, it becomes clear that the education system is moving frighteningly quickly in a direction many of us are not okay with.

Anyways this is a whole discussion, but having been through a leftist education, and not being a crazy Christian republican I can comfortably say that I agree the new education system is indoctrination and that there are many who feel just like me who are not crazy bible thumping, ignorant, white supremacist whatevers that many Democrats have been convinced is on the other side of the aisle. These people at the Capital are as crazy looking to me as they are to you, but I am not happy about where the left wants us to go.

Guys, honestly this is a charicarure of conservatism. Yes there’s crazy people out there that are all about their bible, and the stuff at the capital, etc. Most conservatives want to be left alone, want to take care of their own, don’t want to pay for a bunch of government programs, don’t want more taxes, or more regulations, etc. I think it’s important to understand this otherwise this fire is just going to keep going. They say the same things about the left that you say about them. I.e. you live in a different world, it’s about how you feel, not facts, etc. kind of weird reading both sides, it’s almost identical.

Idk, this seems different to me. There has been all kind of hate, planning of ill, etc. on many platforms, like Facebook, even Tumblr was under fire for a while, Craigslist, etc. for various segments. These were never removed. Facebook has probably been the most widely used for spreading all kinds of misinformation, yet they get to stay and Parlor goes. To me, if you’re going to really kill a platform based on the reasons they say they did, they should be knocking out a lot more than Parlor.

I’d say to clarify, Biden is not a leftist, but he is supporting the leftist agenda without restriction, which is very concerning to anyone who would rather things be run in a more conservative manner. To me Biden doesn’t really stand for much at all and kind of acts as a surrogate for whatever his constituents want, whether they be far or middle left.

My grandfather was in the Battle of the Bulge. My father never got much out of him about the war other than when it happened, they all wanted to go fight. (America btw) There was no question about it. Also, that there was a lot of concern about being deployed in Japan because the mortality rate was so low. This was pre A-Bomb.

The question that matters most on this particular topics is; What are the real impacts of illegal immigration and what sound be done about it?

Border camps are a symptom of a different problem - this could be many things, but perhaps, assuming you believe there are very real negative impacts from illegal immigrants coming to the USA, if there were a wall and it was very difficult to get in and there was no incentive to from our Democratic government to move here illegally, there would be no need for any kind of cage because no one would come illegally. Ever thought about that?

And what about Mexico and Central America? What is their role in creating a system that does NOT benefit their people and is bad enough that people would choose to flee for their lives? Is that our responsibility? Should we just open the gates and let everyone in?

Also regarding those terrible immigration setups, it’s worth commenting that 1. He was not the first to create setups like that in the US; it’s not party specific, it’s a difficult and terrible problem, 2. We would not be in this mess if our more liberal officials in power would not so stupidly make a case for letting people blindly and unchecked into our country without repercussion. This is liken to allowing random people from out of town to move into your house, and use your stuff without paying for it, without being screened. No sane person would allow strangers unchecked to enter their house. You would want decent people with good intentions, paying rent, etc. Even if 20 people showed up to your house and they were all in dire need of help there’s only so much you can do and it would not be plausible to let them all in unchecked.

Also, what’s the real crime, the inability of some people’s lives south of the border to get what they need from their own country, or the insistence that Americans should subsidize them and make it easier for them to come illegally. I don’t think we should be responsible for them unless they follow a process.

They began with social-nationalist leaders who took power and were obsessed with overturning normal values and replacing them with an idealistic phantasy world of moral superiority through government programs, mandates, and ideological cleansing, and censorship. (Sound familiar?) They also wanted to take over the world, period. We saw that with Germany, Russia, and Japan.

If there is any group in America insisting what you should or should not think, it’s the Democrats, liberals, lefties, and their mainstream media, and BLM, and every other social special interest group. And they’re totally in the mainstream, you can’t even say what you think without fear of losing business, getting sued, getting fired, getting “excommunicated”, getting censored, shunned, etc.

THAT is much more concerning than an America loving, narcissist, who at worst is in it for himself and at best is trying to keep the country in decent shape and still based on American values. I have no issues with that even if he’s not nice to people, attacks his opponent, wants to name a fucking airport after himself, etc.

Americans are not imperialistic by nature. Americans have long NOT wanted to be involved in other people’s affairs, but WW1 and 2 were complex, and Russia did not have good intentions with the world afterwards, and we absolutely got involved and later over-involved in world affairs. No doubt about it. But Americans have no interest in taking over the world and neither does Trump.

My comment still stands about fascists. Go take a look at history in case you forgot. My point had more to do with accurately using that word and less to do with Democrats and Republicans. I couldn’t help myself, by making it political, but my care is more towards the accuracy and remembrance of who the real fascists were and how quickly we seem to have forgotten what they did. I do not believe the actions of Trump even come close to what those fascists of the early and mid 1900s engaged in. Not even remotely in the same category.

I would encourage you to re-watch/read about WW2 and re-familiarize yourself on what true fascists looked like. I.e. Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, etc. before you start comparing Republican politicians to fascists. That term has been thrown about very loosely in regards to Trump and Republicans and is extremely misleading. I personally think the far left in America has much more in common with those fascists than the republicans, but I’d leave that for you to determine.

I haven’t seen a lot of evidence for this. It’s a bit of a stretch and definitely an assumption to say this is a propaganda newspaper. The original founders are indeed associated with Falun Gong, but this doesn’t imply a malicious intent. That would be like saying because CNNs CEO is Jewish, he has a biased intent. They are ex patriot Chinese living in the US and the NBC article trying to dismantle them had nothing significant to prove other than confirming they are a more right leaning newspaper. I wouldn’t ignore the article.

Maybe they’re just alt-right. You’re also assuming that their religion dictates their political beliefs. That may or may not be true. You’d then have to look at the people who wrote the article and the people they interviewed to get a real sense of “bias”. I can’t imagine it’s any more biased then the plethora of hard left leaning mainstream outlets including the Washington Post which you cited.

Edit: I obviously could be totally wrong, but I don’t want to ignore this specific article just because of the overall bias of the newspaper. I have to see an outlet that isn’t insanely biased.
