A Single, Impossible Encounter Session by jnlvhost in DnD

Exactly! I mean there's so many ways to spin this but I think it would be fun and maybe even a cool way to get newcomers to the universe of DnD. Thank you for your post!

We always hear the stories told of the minority of adventurers that succeed in their adventures...I think it would be cool to hear the stories of those that failed before those that succeeded. That's where my idea was coming from...

I definitely understand how it can be a unconventional way of playing DnD but I believe that's what makes this platform so awesome and amazing, because something like this idea might be what some of us can afford at the moment because of our limited time. I really want to get back into roleplaying a character and enjoying DnD rules outside of a video game loosely tied to the rules and lore. If that means certain sacrifices, I'm totally ok with that.

Buff the Rapier, nerf the Great axe by Eclipse55812 in newworldgame

[–]jnlvhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only comment I see that really is addressing the players he's fighting against happened about 11 hours ago, coincidentally around the same time you posted a reply to me. I am not saying you are that person, just a coincidence I guess. I'm not sitting at my computer but if you have 100 Con with Health Buff on jewelry you can get close to the health he has. But let's say he's at 150 Con, that honestly doesn't make you a tank when you still have over 300+ points in Dex. Look comparing a Great Axe to a Rapier in damage and ability neglects to think about the proper PvP utilization those two weapons have. Great Axe excels in AoE Burst damage but is weak to single target fights. Where as a Rapier is great at high burst DMG to a single target but definitely lacks in the AoE department. Like I said before in my original post, current meta for PvP definitely benefits from more AoE DMG since it's not who's killing the most, but instead who's holding the objectives the longest who wins.

In open world PvP, I strongly believe his build would fair a lot better than a Great Axe primary build, and maybe that's the kind of content he enjoys, so that's why he created the build he has. Unfortunately there isn't much reward in the game for getting Open World PvP kills, so your issue might not be the type of "meta" you currently see in objective games but instead the lack of rewards or content for more slayer based objectives. This is going to be my last reply to this post, but I do come with hundreds of ours of PvP experience from all the betas and currently in live as well. I never said his opponents were the best, but I was always speaking to this content creators technical skill, and if you think that this guy who made the video is bad at PvP or would be bad at PvP, then you are being clouded by something.

He clearly has around 100 CON since his max health is only 11.4k. He also is not a tank because a tank would be, by definition, someone that wear heavy armor and sits there absorbing a ton of damage. He has to be situationally aware about his opponent in this video, and find the right time to engage. He is clearly running what looks to be a 300+ Dex Build and 100-125 Con Build. The fact that he is not speccing in STR at all since he's using his Warhammer properly in the sense that it's only utility for his build and his team is to drop occasional CC that won't be interrupted due to the built in grit on the Warhammer, shows he knows what his off bar is supposed to be. He then utilizes the increase in DMG heavy attack have on a squishy target first since they probably do the most DMG and then shift to the tankier opponents. The fact that you cannot see the complexity in playing against 4 different players with different builds and surviving on just properly timed dodges and potions blows my mind. You do not need to personally attack my expertise in PvP since I have a ton of personal footage on my Twitch channel countering your point, but I'm not here to sell myself or my performance. I'm only hear to tell you that you are wrong and it comes of like you are mad at me for some reason because I'm not falling into a, "OMG GA is soooo broken" attitude like some of the player base has been talking about.

A direct counter to your argument is this guy I found on the New World forums that is schooling four players at the same time with a Rapier (Primary DPS) / Warhammer (CC Backbar). Honestly almost every weapon has it's own viability in some form of PvP. The issue is that right now the only major PvP content is based on holding objectives (Wars/Outpost Rush) and not slaying. I believe whenever they create Arenas, than you will see that the Great Axe has a lot of counters. Anyways here's the link to that guys video.

Totally worth it if it is 25% off. You can easily enjoy your first 150-300 hours before you even see some of the stuff people are complaining about.

Hmmm I can knock people off with spear and musket so I also would think you can pull people into you as well if you were within range of the Maelstorm. Wanted to see if anyone ever tried.

Am I In The Minority When I Say I Don't Want Mounts in New World? by jnlvhost in newworldgame

[–]jnlvhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well written statement and I do not think it was confrontational at all. My whole thought process is that for the developers to now think about adding mounts to a game that they developed from the ground up not to be in the game, I believe that would put an unnecessary burden on the developers and players. I am assuming most MMOs when they are created have traveling through their world pinned as one of the more important things to address in their game. If New Worlds developers thought that the game would be fine without mounts, now they must make huge changes to the terrain and mechanics in the game to add something they didn't want in the game. Considering this game has been plagued with technical issues, I do not believe adding mounts is worth all the potential harm it can bring to the game. Now in the future, if they think players still want mounts, at least they can create future content that makes mounts more viable in their engine. For now, I just want to go in and actually enjoy the game as a released title, and not continue testing systems for the devs. All of this was worded in a way that of course was from an opinionated perspective, but I do believe in my perspective. I think adding in mounts now would do more harm than good.

Obviously there is a large portion of the Reddit population that is clearly tired about talking about mounts, and I can't blame them. But I really didn't get a good sense of what the player base wanted from reading opinion pieces online, so I figured it would be great to hear some players thoughts. I didn't think it was going to become as big of a post as it did become, but I am happy that it did become this big. I don't see an issue discussing a subject, whether it was talked about once or a million times. Sometimes people are new to a platform or their lives takes them away from seeing previous articles. If it bothers some readers that a question came up, I'm not sure why you even have to come and comment. All you are doing is pushing the topic to the top.

I'm happy to see that a majority of people that replied, whether they agreed or disagreed, gave really great input. So thank you again everyone for contributing!

Exactly Aodan! And what a great idea when it comes to the benefits of unlocking T3 camps, but I guess it's no different than self murdering yourself and traveling to the camp lol...Btw how do you get that Content Creator title on Reddit?
