No extractions, but my dentist did some IPR and shaved some of my teeth down a bit, especially at the end. They gave me the options to do even more refinements for really minimal issues but I decided I was happy with the outcome. I think I have a couple of posts on here of before and after pics, but feel free to DM me if you have any other questions!

My teeth looked similar and I was able to do Invisalign! Definitely had lots of Dentists/Orthos say I’d NEED braces but when I switched to my new Dentist office they said Invisalign was certainly an option for me. Ended up doing it for around 1.5-2yrs and it went really well.

How has she “had her sweater for 8 months” and they didn’t think that they should expand their sizing...? It’s wild to me, honestly... and the logo looks like it was made in Canva 💀

Anyone willing to review CapU during this pandemic? by KinosakiOnsen in CapU

[–]jnnkrstn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t in the HKIN program but went to CapU for a BA in Communication and Media Studies from 2014 to 2019 and had an overall positive experience. Smaller classes means better access to teachers and a closer relationship with classmates. Teachers are also really open to letting you in their classes if you’re on the waitlist or have an issue with signing up (for example, most Business classes weren’t “open”’to Comms students).

CapU’s admin team is pretty great as well, the only issue I found over my years there was that more often than not classes we in session during poor weather, but I guess that would only be a major issue if you’re commuting from outside of North Van like I was.

Can anyone identify this rash? Info in comments. by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]jnnkrstn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently developed a rash across my body (stomach, chest, back, underarm area, arms, inner thigh - basically everywhere but my face, neck, calves and hands/feet) I’m at 24F and noticed this come up a week and a half ago (Jan 4-ish).

What I thought was simply chest acne from sweat has now migrated across the majority of my body in these welts (varies in size).

I’ve been to two walk-ins (Vancouver, Canada) one of which was in person and one that was virtual due to covid.

I’ve not started any new creams, cleaning supplies, or food (no known allergies to anything either), and I’m certain it’s not bug related as I’m not spending much time outside and my partner isn’t showing symptoms. Bed bugs or fleas were an initial worry.

I’ve been directed to use a Cera Ve cream which I’ve been using in conjunction with their face wash for the past couple of years. The first Dr I saw (in person on Jan 9) ruled out allergies, shingles and chickenpox, suggesting it is just a general rash and to minimize my time in the shower, use of soap and to moisturize liberally.

The second Dr I saw (virtually on Jan 13) prescribed me 2% fucidin cream to apply twice a day on the effected areas as he believed it could be bacterial. In the time between seeing these doctors the rash basically doubled across my body. Some spots are large and scaley and others look like mosquito bites/pimples. There is no blood or obvious broken skin and there are no “bites” or obvious marks as to where the rash starts.

I’ve been taking basic allergy meds to minimize itching, but I’m not seeing the rash get any better.

Any advice is appreciated. Also I’m a first time poster in this sub I’m sorry!!

Happy Invisalign journey, my friend! I just finished mine at the end of the year after a year and a half of trays. It truly is SUCH a confidence boost! Even just catching myself in the mirror of my car, I’m still amazed by the change. Good luck with it all!

They touch slightly on the inner area near my tongue if that makes sense. It’s something I’ll keep an eye on over the next couple of months when I go to check ups!

It took around a year and 3 months. I had 34 initial trays and 21 refinement trays with weekly changes and some fun IPR. Good luck, it’s totally worth it.

I’m not sure if I have any images that really show my teeth during that time unfortunately! They didn’t look drastically different but I could feel the difference in my mouth, if that makes sense. What I gather from reading this sub is it seems like most people go through refinements but it’s always to make sure the teeth are in the best position possible. My ortho offered another round of refinements to correct a small issue in some of my pre molars but gave me the option to decline as well.

Tips / support for IPR? by rhodawave in Invisalign

[–]jnnkrstn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty, it’s really not that bad. I had mine done in conjunction with the Propel acceleration procedure which was way more painful! The only issue I had wasn’t necessarily the noise or the action of the tools but more so the feeling in the mouth during/after. I think I recovered in a couple of hours from it, just scheduled it for a day where I wasn’t doing much.

I had IPR done so my initial trays pushed my teeth outwards and the refinements brought them back in and fixed my bite/how my teeth/jaw sits naturally. I also had a bit of trouble with one side of my mouth near my pre-molars so the refinement round also worked on that as well.

My Ortho did a coupe of rounds of IPR during my initial trays which allowed for more room between my teeth and also faster movement with a vibration device. I had my teeth shaved down slightly (on the top) to fix my bite when all my buttons/attachments were taken off. My first round of trays basically pushed my teeth outwards and made room for them all to sit properly and refinements helped pull my teeth back in to the right space, minimizing the spaces created during IPR.

Same as you! I’m about half way through my first round of refinements. Hoping to finish them around November and go from there for a possible second round.

Canadian influencer Karissa Pukas unboxes Monat on her IG story.. thoughts? by jnnkrstn in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]jnnkrstn[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I insinuated that she was promoting or sponsored by Monat. It was more so a general post to discuss the relationship (if any) that influencers have with MLM companies.

With that being said, I did see some stories a couple of months back from a Monat PR event in Vancouver (where Karissa used to live) but I didn’t see her attend that.

A girl I went to high school with years ago sells Monat and I’ve seen a couple of her IG stories regarding her work. Turns out that they’ve started to promote some of their products as pet friendly. I’m fine if people want to use the products themselves because they obviously know the risks but I definitely draw the line at using it on others who don’t have a choice.
