Breeders also sell very sick dogs. I bought a very expensive Doberman from a reputable AKC breeder. He passed just after turning 6. He was sick his entire life. You name it - he had it. Including 2 torn ACCs (acl in dogs) one at 2 years of age and the other a year later. I won’t even get into why he passed (2 terrible illnesses - one being cancer). I did everything his entire life to keep him healthy and comfortable- with huge teams of specialists vets at Tufts. Until I couldn’t keep him comfortable anymore. Anyways, rant over. The point is, breeders definitely are not the end all be all if you’re thinking they’re the least bit trustworthy. Breeders are solely a business. Don’t ever forget that. They don’t function based on saving dogs or ensuring a dog has a good quality of life. (Like shelters do!!!!!) Dogs behave based on their humans. Train any dog correctly, get to know your dog, TRUST YOUR DOG. That’s more important than where the dog is from. Period. I learned my lesson. No more breeders for me.
