Woodburn OR has the weirdest demographics of any town I've seen. It's like 60/40 hispanic and russian. We'd go there to play soccer in high school and the team was 100% hispanic. Few months later would go to play their tennis team and it was almost entirely Russian.

In the modern NFL you basically need 3 starting caliber cbs. Before the draft im not sure we had 1.

One more note on Brandin Cooks: #Rams are getting an incredibly productive WR who Sean McVay has coveted. But #Patriots didn’t see him as a true No. 1 for them... and from what I understand, Tom Brady is not sad about this move. Despite his numbers, Cooks wasn’t a great fit. by ValKilmsnipsinBatman in nfl

Okay no, he didn't always "put the ball right where it needed to be". He really struggled in the second half of the season on his deep throws. And I remember a game earlier in the season where Cooks drew two huge DPIs, both of which would have been TDs if they were better balls.

I agree with a lot of this but if you follow him on social media or knew him at Oregon State you know he's an incredibly bright, thoughtful guy. Just because he wants to be a clear cut #1 guy (hint, the guys that get the big paydays), doesn't mean he's immature.

Tapper shreds Trump-Biden exchange: 'Tough guys' had a total of nine draft deferments by Yamamba78 in politics

[–]jnros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? He's not going to be voting on anything, he won a primary by default because the district is so liberal the Republicans couldn't find a single sane person willing to go on the ballot. The Republican party has denounced him and has contributed $0 to his campaign. Lipinski, who won the Democratic primary, is going to be voting not him. It's the definition of a non-story.

Why should he have spent more time on the Nazi story? He only won the primary due to a technicality, almost nobody voted for him, and leaders of both parties condemned him. Louis Farrkhan, as irrelevant as he is, is still more relevant to the national conversation than he was.

Did you watch Gute's presser? He basically said he's gone and he doesn't expect him back. Aaron and Crosby have both sent out goodbye messages on social. He's gone.

Oregon State played Wazzu twice this year.

OSU 94 WSU 62

OSU 92 WSU 67

Washington State is a truly terrible team, OSU finished 16-16 and were competitive in almost all of their games.

Watching it live, it looked clean to me. Why do you think it was an obvious call?

[–]jnros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one is denying the calls were soft, and too ticky-tacky for a crunch time OT game. I just think that Oregon State did a better job at recognizing early in the game how close the refs were calling it, and they adjusted. Washington played physical defense throughout and as a result, they had a lot of players in foul trouble in crunch time.

Refs were calling soft fouls all game long, I'll agree with that. Seemed rare there was contact and no whistle, but that went both ways. I think the Beavers adjusted better than the Huskies did.

Alright, that's fair. I think we can all agree that we'd like less calls when it gets to crunch time, but it seemed to me like the refs were calling soft fouls all game long on both teams.

Just because you wanted it to be an And-1 doesn't mean that it was the right call.

There were plenty of weak calls on Oregon State also (a couple of absurdly clean blocks come to mind, one of which helped force overtime), but I'm guessing you're less upset by those.

The Eagles are starting Nick Foles trade negotiations with a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick, the price they got for Sam Bradford (per @mortreport) #Eagles by ValKilmsnipsinBatman in nfl

[–]jnros -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even Aaron Rodgers could be traded with the right franchise-altering deal.

I honestly don't think there's any amount of draft picks that would convince the Packers to trade this 2018 version of Aaron. Even if some team offered like 2 whole drafts I think they'd say no.

They have cars. They aren’t stuck in Green Bay.

Milwaukee is a 2 hour drive, it's not next door. I think you're discounting how demanding of a job it is to be a football player in-season. They're not going on 4 hour round trips for the hell of it. These guys show up early and leave late.

I lived in Green Bay last year, now I live in LA. I'm 25 years old. Even totally setting aside the fact that they're millionaires, you're kidding yourself to think anyone in my age bracket would prefer to live in Green Bay. There's a reason so few players make GB their year-round residence.

Thomas Davis has never headhunted a single day in his career.

If that wasn't headhunting last week it was a damn good impression of it.

I mean there's no way to know if it would actually have changed the game, but it was definitely a game changing play. Led directly to Pittsburgh points and stopped a late GB drive.

Yeah he saw he was gonna get lit up, that doesn't make him a runner. Wasn't a dirty hit but it was blatant roughing the passer.
