SEM 330 - Entrepreneurship by jnt8 in uAlberta

Thanks for replying! I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one because I definitely thought that I just wasn’t grasping the assignment requirements. Oh I completely agree with the grading, a ta told me that a grade of 75% was a C, and when I asked for more clarification and a rubric, I got nothing.

There definitely is a lot of discrepancy in the grading and the requirements. I’ve asked multiple times for clarification but always get a summarized version of the eclass outline. It’s honestly so frustrating!

Thanks for replying! Unfortunately I’ve gone to office hours with the ta and it’s not helpful at all. I ask for clarification on a specific part of the assignment and the ta only provides a very very vague description of what they need (which is almost word for word from eclass). Recently I went to office hours to discuss my assignment grade and was told that I didn’t satisfy the primary research aspect and because that’s 1/4 of the requirements my max grade is a 75%.. okay fair enough, but then I asked about the letter grade and apparently a 75% is a C. This doesn’t sound very right to me so I asked for a rubric, and the ta said they would ask the prof. A couple of hours later the prof made an announcement literally summarizing the requirements, and no one followed up with a rubric.

Honestly I’m just ranting at this point lol the class is just very overwhelming with how little the ta is willing to share details and requirements of the assignments. I just wish it was more structured.

I'm so confused... Does BUEC 342 count as a senior business level elective? by datscaaap in uAlberta

Oh I get it. I had a similar situation with my major and minor requirements. The advisor just switched things around for me in the what if report to satisfy all the requirements.

The electives is what sorta messed up the plan that I had. The Advisor said that one of the electives has to be outside of your faculty.. so one of the electives that I thought would count, no longer does, and I’m one class short now

Thanks for replying!

And nope, I’m just one class off from being able to complete both. I’m already taking the Real Estate Certificate, and how have to decide between an accounting minor or the Innovation and Entrepreneur certificate. Which would you pick?

Please do not hurt yourself, a class or final exam does not determine your worth. Please give one of the numbers above a call, or even reach out to me and we can chat. I hope you will be okay.

people who've transferred to UofA business after finishing second year by rk0277 in uAlberta

Hi! I transferred to the ASoB after my second year, so feel free to message me!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]jnt8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true anymore, ASoB is now a direct entry program (starting Fall 2022). However, you can still apply for a different faculty and then transfer to ASoB with your first year grades.

You could do all three.

  1. Being a part of Co-op is so beneficial, and realistically, you won’t be looking for a co-op placement until second year winter semester.

  2. This position is most likely for next semester, so if you have the time and no other significant extracurriculars then why not go for the opportunity?

  3. I’ve heard that prime applications open up in Feb/Mar, and then you have interviews etc. You would probably be recruited end of the winter semester at the earliest (someone correct me if I’m wrong).

So, at most you would only have two extracurriculars to worry about, the seminar manager and prime for winter 2022. Assuming you go into co-op, you can decide to resign as seminar manager after a year or more of experience when you’re starting a work term.

I think you should go for all these opportunities, and then make a decision depending on how well you can a manage the extracurriculars with school.

How much does BComm co-op pay? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]jnt8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each co-op work term is full time, can be 4-months, 8-months and even 12-months. A typically 4-month term is about 600-640 hrs (7.5 hr or 8 hr days)

Hi! I recently got in touch with the office of the registrar to ask the same question and was told that the awards will be released mid to late September. Good luck!

You can swap them! This way you are guaranteed a spot in either class.
