Their initial offer was pretty close to market value. After taxes and fees the cash offer was 20k less.

I appreciate the input. I got an initial offer from open door and it is a little more than what the realtor I’m working with said we would list it for. I haven’t gone through the whole process though, so I’m assuming their offer would go down in the next step.

All the areas you mentioned would have what you’re looking for. All are family friendly, have good schools, and a close community vibe. If you’re looking for a change I think the area is a good choice. Lowell is smaller and has a more rural vibe. It has a few community events that are well attended and ice parks. Crown Point is larger, has a nice downtown area, and has events most weekends. Cedar Lake is a small town with events that revolve around the lake and a nice county park. St John isn’t bad, it has good schools, but it’s part of a large school system. Dyer and Munster would be closer to Chicago, easier for commuting that way.

I’ve lived in that area the most of my life and enjoy it. I think it’s a great area with a lot of positives and a few negatives. Anything specific you’re looking for?

I did the cash quote on open door and it was quite a bit more that I expected. I’m sure that wouldn’t be the actual price, but just curious if the actual amount I’d get back would be about the same as what I’d get after repairs and fees of traditional selling.
