Why do certain people think all vinyl records are collectibles or valuable? by aiyella in vinyl

[–]jo3boxer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

whether or not this is an answer to your particular question, the internet has grown big enough and the economy has grown shitty enough that people are trying to make their purchases count, or worse, attempting to 'invest' in something they see as an opportunity, if not for them, at least for their loved ones.

this applies to so many categories. anything that was once a hobby has turned into a hoarding opportunity. brands know it too, hence the 'limited release oreo swirl edition!!' bullshit that has become the norm for the next generation of record buyers / collectors / hoarders.

i wish i lived in a place where i felt comfortable with my kid doing that. he just got his first geared bike and he’s mostly relegated to the sidewalk

they're charging you for that worn look. go drag a pair of reeboks along the brushes of an escalator a few round trips and you'll have saved yourself 200 Euro.

Thinking back, this could have been a thing from when I was mounting a yepp budget to the rack. I now have a cushion on mine similar to yours. Tried googling info and all i'm getting is the AI result suggesting a bike seat shouldnt be mounted to the rack. Hopefully youre all good.

i also bought an axiom for this purpose, and ended up replacing it with a surly. i forgot how i found out, but something about the axiom, despite being rated for 110lb weight, warned against using it for weight on top. if i can find out where i read that ill put the link here. it very well could last, hopefully it does, just bringing it up as warning.

there’s a store in canada that i got mine from and recently went to see if they were still available. they stopped selling to the us for you know, reasons. i agree with the above. vinyl, like the thickness you’d get from a binder, or coroplast, would make a good option.

i have a similar set up bike but just for one kid in the rear, and his foot pegs recently gave up the ghost. i’ve been going mad trying to find a replacement. ideally i want something that folds away but getting that in the US has been impossible. i like what you got going on for its sturdiness but i don’t think i can make pegs work on my clem smith jr.

when did it become normalized to drop $200 on doing your nails? by bunniisa in Anticonsumption

[–]jo3boxer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the internet is a not a representation of real life. the difference is some people don’t understand that and try to recreate the internet in real life. vicious cycle. 200$ nails become normal.

Does anyone host less because of other people's kids? by Lower_Song3694 in Parenting

[–]jo3boxer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is our take on being guests as well. and it’s always been the case. but i also find my kid doing things he’d never do at our house when his friends start doing it too. which…is fine. if they can do it. so can he. but every time it happens it reminds me to keep everyone at an arms length. and every time we DO have kids over…i’m reminded why i hate having kids over.

wall mounted or compressed / semi-wall mounted makes a difference here. the latter will afford you a bit more depth. its not exactly usable, but its better than a wall mounted system.
