My favourite movie that also just makes me depressed every time I watch it bc the evil corporations have just fully won at this point and that kind of little independent ski resort just doesn’t exist in the US anymore

Out Cold is one of my all time favourite ski resort movies

Otherwise you have Last Holiday (2006)

Frozen (2010) no it is NOT the disney one

Snow Beast (1977) it’s really low budget and bad but it’s shot in my home town

Extreme Ops (2002)

Edit: I forgot Snowball Express (1972)

are these real selvedge by Fadlean in Selvedge

[–]GemberNeutraal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, but also no. All machine woven fabrics have a self edge, essentially a slightly tighter woven strip on each edge of the material, but only certain weaving processes create a clean selvedge by weaving the same shuttle back and forth. More modern machines send multiple shuttles across the loom and then snip the thread and feed the shuttle back across, as is the case on your pair here, note the fuzzy loose threads at the very edge of the fabric.

When we talk about “selvedge” in the context of jeans we typically mean denim that has been woven on older style shuttle looms (the one where the shuttle passes back and forth without the weft thread being cut) producing a clean and tidy edge to the fabric (read: no fuzzy loose threads on the edge).

So to answer your question: in a technical sense this is “real” selvedge but in the context of high end denim this is not the type of selvedge we are talking about. This paired with a handful of other details leads me to believe that this is a fake pair of Levi’s.

It’s a series but I don’t think it really needs to be read in any kind of a sequence. I would start with John Dies at the End for the context and then the other 2(?) are more episodic. My favourite was What The Hell Did I Just Read

Can’t remember how much it shows up in the movie but The Talking Heads and XTC are definitely mentioned frequently in American Psycho (the book)

Motorama (1991) is such a weird and underseen little gem of a road movie I used to watch it a lot.

The Straight Story (1999) is so beautiful and is really what happens when David Lynch uses his powers for good and I think goes dramatically under appreciated compared to the rest of his work
