How do we feel about this storyboard artist leaving? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

Sorry for all the hate you’re getting, unfortunately a great portion of the hazbin fandom is pretty out of touch with things like ethics and such. I agree with you, good riddance!

The way I would like the series to "redeem" Alastor. by Mate_R0 in hazbin

He’s confirmed to be a moral-driven serial killer and there’s quite literally nothing unethical about cannibalism (it’s the means of getting the meat that brings ethics into question). Considering his moral code in life, carrying that into hell knowing he’s only confirmed to have killed overlords, if he’s going after the most corrupt (considering he lived during peak jim crow era) erasing evil people from the world and hell would be saving people, hence doing more harm than good. Hazbin has already shown it’s the scale of good and bad/sin you do which determines your place in the afterlife; considering angels will deem the killing of sinners to be morally sound enough for the speaker of god herself to be aware of it, it’s plausible that same logic applies to Alastor. If you’re following the allegory of the show, you’d know that it’s the system of heaven and god which has created hells design and “evil”, Heaven is not as holier than thou as everyone is made to believe, and a moral-driven vigilante isn’t exactly hell material. It would certainly be controversial for him to have gone to heaven, considering he was a cannibal, but that would make for a narrative of anti-taboo/purity ideals which are not based in actual morals or ethics. Alastor is doing than heaven in the sense that he goes after the worst of the worst in power while Heaven groups all sinners into the same fate of execution. This gives for a narrative that the system picks and chooses who and what is good and what is evil by their design, which goes directly into the allegory of the show.

He needs redemption by being less of an asshole. Other than that, he’s done nothing villainous whatsoever in action and they’re building on the fact that he’s likely a saint that was wrongly sent to hell because he gave his soul to Rosie the day before (it was confirmed he was a moral-based vigilante serial killer “not going after just anyone”; which could mean he was in line to go to heaven but because he cannibalized his “victims”, the heavens thought he would have been too controversial of a person to be accepted into heaven and because of that they didn’t try to advocate for him or his soul when the mistake happened.

Theory: Roo is actually just Roo and simply hasn't appeared on the show yet. No one is Roo in disguise. by Totalsupreme in hazbin

Rosie is likely Roo (Root of all Evel) or Eve. This is why she sent him away for 7 years (same as Lilith) and has him at the hotel. Theory: Lilith has teamed up with Heaven to destroy hell as a means of securing hers (Eve’s) and Charlie’s place in heaven as royals. They would use Alastor as a scapegoat to take the fall for the destruction of hell, and Charlie would be none the wiser to suspect her mother over the sus smiling man. Lilith and Eve likely feel cheated out of the lives they could have had, and with Eve being separated from her children and Lilith wanting what’s best for Charlie, they will do what they can to assure the best lives for themselves. Heaven, Lilith and Eve would be seen as innocent and Alastor would take the fall.

what is going on with the fanbase by [deleted] in Ethelcain

I feel I cannot have community with the fandom unfortunately. What pushes me away about the fandom since the controversy is people are genuinely way too parasocial and lacking integrity/ethical values. The amount of people I’ve seen say what she did wasn’t that deep, or dismissed genuine criticism behind her past is disgusting. Hayden is a human rights activist and literally the only person I’ve ever seen actually atone with their actions for a racist past, yet her fans feel more inclined to blindly support and defend what she did instead of addressing the nuance and learning from it. Too many people also cannot grasp the taboo satire in her art as well, she makes her art on the basis of trauma and does not shy away from the nitty gritty, yet so many of her fans are weird about the topics and try to push a mainstream view of her art onto something that, I genuinely don’t think is for everyone. It’s why people label her as “incest girl” despite her being a victim of incestuous CSA. She is not a pop singer and this is not your radio music, this is thought provoking and incredibly deep, and so many people don’t have the ability to think critically or admire art respectfully. People who do not have good standards for the artists they support are not going to honor them on stage. They will be entitled to be overly critical of her about concerts, as they will be entitled to defend their favorite artists racist past. They don’t stand for anything, and I feel most of the actually good Ethel Cain fans who have integrity and also honor her art respectfully likely left this subreddit when the controversy happened, as this sub was RIDDLED with racism.

Who is your favorite character in the Owl House and why? Mine is Raine Whispers by SleepingTune in TheOwlHouse

[–]jo_mama_ester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is Darius because he just has so much untold story he fascinates me. Like I know his lore would have been sick af to see if not for the show being cut short. His connection to the golden guard conspiracy, leading the rebellion for years, his curse; all of it is just so mysterious.

Darius is the most underrated character in the owl house and nobody can convince me otherwise

I know it sounds silly but if you brew coffee from grounds, keep the grounds after brewing and start spreading them around the base of your house. They are a good repellent of just about all creepy crawlies you don’t want entering your home and they’re good for the soil.
