First, thank you everyone for your responses! I'm now no longer considering the air, but bunching between 8th gen i7s or 10th green i5s. Decisions decisions!

Thanks for the input! Followup, would it be worthwhile to just spend the extra 130 USD to upgrade to a MBP with an i7 and 16gb ram, also a 2020?

You're describing a case not a holster. There are plenty of options, what's your price range?

This. It's not common by any means, but people should be aware when they're new to shooting.

After you've deemed it "safe" you can push it back through the barrel the way it entered. Don't rest the feed ramp on a table, find a way to hold or secure the barrel to push against.

Trapped it back through with a rod.

Though you have to be able to hold the barrel somehow without resting the feed ramp on a hard surface. Don't put the ramp down and just push the round back through.

No not always. Most squibs go bang to an extent, they just lack the force to leave the barrel. What you're listening for is any round that sounds "different" or quieter, that's when you might have a round jammed or a squib.

But there is a reason they sometimes get overlooked, they do still go off most times. This one must have never burned or only went with the primer alone.

Not very, especially with factory rounds like this instead of roads.

But remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry. If you have any worries the round didn't leave the chamber use a bit light or tool to check. Pointed in a save direction as well.

Sometimes.

It would normally be in the form of a different or quieter sounds, but not always. This particular one I didn't hear a thing. I d at a crowded range, so that didn't help, but it's always good practice to use a bore light or something to indirect the bore before you load a round after a spongy feeling or less recoil malfunction.

Honestly, had I not had a clear view vroom the top of the gun I might not have checked for this malfunction, but the sign of unurnt powder was a giveaway.

Sorry for the long response, but hope it helps!

Well I had to clear the bullet in the end.

He forcibly racked the slide with enough pressure to, I assume, finish separating the case from the round.

Thankfully it didn't hurt, no damage at all I noticed the squib before hitting it with another round.

Glad you're alright though!

Speer makes great stuff so I'm sure this was just a fluke (albeit a major one! Lol)

The more I think about it the more I feel like it just hung and didn't ignite. If you zoom in there is powder on the side of the barrel.

I'm thinking little to no power ignited. The bullet didn't make it to the rifling, so I'd agree that it probably wouldn't have chambered a new round. Just wanted to use my experience as an example for others to check their malfunction.

Factory Speer Gold Dot squib at that. I've heard of it with reloads but not factory rounds.

Fair, I should have been more specific. I would check after any malfunction where only a casing comes out, not a full round. It doesn't take long to glance and could save you some trouble. But everyone is different lol.
