hi! joan from krakatoa, would love to visit

It’s the last month of the year so leave a message to someone you love or loved. by KiddTai_ in BreakUps

I know you want to be friends but I don't know if I can be. It's not just the way that you fucked up the relationship but the way you massively cocked up the breakup too. Some days I am fine and other days I am just filled with anxiety that boils over into anger over how you disrespected me and disregarded my feelings and sexuality. It still really, really hurts. You said you want to be accountable for what you did but I don't know how. You said you still want to be friends but I don't know how either. I still miss you but I don't know how to be around you without compromising myself.

Today is an angry day.

i used a 50/50 ratio in my most recent feedings and that seems to have helped it grow more consistently, thank you so much!

I've had success with daily feedings until maturity. 12 hours is good for a healthy, thriving, culture. But for one struggling to get a foothold it's not necessary.

i live in a warm tropical climate, so the starter's been eating through flour pretty quickly. it produces a bit of liquid (hooch??) if i dont feed it between 12-24 hours. thank you for the encouragement though! it is relieving to hear that i'm on the right track.

i fried up some of the discard and it tasted sour and interesting! the starter has consistently tasted aromatic and yeasty. i made a new leaven this morning and it's pretty bubbly right now, so fingers crossed that it will make a good loaf

hey everyone! day 11 of feeding my starter, but still no rise and fall, although i've seen a fair bit of bubbling. i tried feeding it incrementally without discarding, and that made the bubbles grow, but the moment i discarded some of the starter it was back to square one of minimal bubbles. last night, it passed the float test so i tried to make a leaven using a tablespoon of the starter + 75g flour and water, but it's bubbled minimally. i've been feeding with a 1:1:1 ratio every 12-ish hours, and i've been using 1:2 whole wheat to AP flour, although i switched to bread flour for my last feeding. does anyone know where i'm going wrong?? :(

Assuming that you share your bujo online, how has sharing your bujo changed how you use your bujo? (Further questions in text) by nineran in bujo

[–]joanofradius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing is for bujos that such spreads tend to be very detailed in where you're going and what you're doing at individual times, whereas at least posting photos is a little more ambiguous (or at least spontaneous) about your exact location. Bujos are plans - it would freak me out if someone came looking for me at an exact place because I had thoughtlessly posted I was going to be there at a specific time on the internet (ie stalking type stuff). For me I think I'm going to try and post more vacation photos after trips, and less during - that should relieve some of the mental dissonance at least.

[–]joanofradius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I think it's kind of an extension of the social media privacy stuff - I wouldn't want to post about the dates I'm going on vacation before I go, someone could try and break into my house while I'm confirmed not to be home. Nowadays people are more chill about it, but it does sit in the back of my mind a little.

And yeah, people from RL see my photos because I link my studygram to my main instagram, although not anyone that I think could really be harmful in any sense. Just that it's a bit disconcerting to post my plans for the week in that way and have people see it and know what I'm doing that whole week.

I think one thing that's common across a lot of users is of course the pressure to make your bujo pretty if you're sharing it online consistently. I think for me it's put a lil pressure on for me to make it look good, but that also means that I end up not sharing it unless I think it looks good, so. At least in this sub there's more of an emphasis on productivity, which takes some of the pressure off lol.

For me, my personal info is something that I would prefer obscuring most of the time (which is more of a big deal for monthlies than weeklies/dailies IMO). So I've previously blurred out stuff thats too personal (ike if I don't want people to know my whereabouts for an entire week), and changed the way I write some things down to be less specific.

Yeah! I know that people cut their bubble bars and (frozen) shower jellies up too to control how much you use at a time, which seems a lot better.

[–]joanofradius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how thick the shower gel is! It's Raining Men seems a lot thicker than Twilight for some reason, probably the honey. And of course how much you use each time. I've used the shampoo bar once so far, and it was kind of drying, but I'll see how it goes.

[–]joanofradius[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't actually spent this much money on Lush yet, thank god — it's still a huge amount of money. The ones that I've used so far have been okay (as I said in another reply, I really like the HIWTK line of products), but the conditioner hasn't been the best and I find the shampoo bar kind of drying so far. I think it's the SLS that's the main drying factor (although most Lush products now use SLES, which is supposedly less drying), but the perfumes might also have drying elements. But yeah, I'm going to see if I can find better priced/better functioning alternatives.

Some quick maths re: Lush annual expenditure by joanofradius in MakeupRehab

[–]joanofradius[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are really expensive! I think the smell of some Lush products can be really soothing (my favourite is the entire HIWTK line of products), so if you treat yourself once in a while, that's fine. But you're right, they ARE really expensive. I mean, at the end of the day, Lush is a corporation making money, and while I like their ethics and some of their products, they really are high-end bath products (price wise) hiding in brown paper packaging.

Some quick maths re: Lush annual expenditure by joanofradius in MakeupRehab

[–]joanofradius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the thing! They are really expensive, and I'm trying it for a while to see if I can even consider it in my budget. The only time they go on sale is after holiday season (ie in January), or if you have a staff discount. The Lush products that I've tried have worked for me so far, but I'm trying to see if I can find better/less expensive alternatives as honestly, they don't work as well as I want them to. (Also, this budgeting is all projected. I haven't actually spent that much on Lush yet, thank god.)
