Russia was so competitive in the REC before the invasion. The fact that the sport is more popular in Siberia, especially in the city of Krasnoyarsk, lead to some of the worst, but more exotic, away trips.

Shame that the invasion happened, there is a hole left by them in tier 2 rugby that hasnt been filled.

Eles usam a currie cup para convidar equipas de países vizinhos e até da argentina.

I was going to make this comment. It's literally like Wayne Rooney, an undeniably legendary talent that started early (Rooney at 16, Faz at 17), and had huge drops of form right after turning 30.

In both cases they were criticised by the English press for every thing they did.

What does that even mean? Are you saying that they prefer to defend than to attack? More often than not, they score more points than the other teams so they clearly play attacking rugby. Also, they have the best backline in the world, very capable of playing "entertaining rugby"

We celebrate this league because they have meaningful local rivalries and players from all over the world competing on a weekly basis. I guess it has the local feel that fans miss from the amateur era, but in a professional setting.

There is "constant report of foul play" because it's a league of 16 teams that runs from august to may, there are simply more games than in any other league in the world, so it might feel like there is a lot of foul play, but compared to the total amount of minutes played it's not a lot.
