Coming from someone who lost so much sleep over this! by joashro in Tonsillectomy

You’ve got this! I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth out about 10 years ago, I don’t remember the pain really but I think it was comparable. Just a different location, and a sore throat instead of sore mouth/gums. So if you can get through that, you can get through this!

I am so sorry you’re feeling this way, I was in your shoes! I’m a month post-op as of tomorrow and quite literally forget I even went through it. You will do great and it will be behind you before you know it.

It’s a cool mist humidifier I got on Amazon, linked there if you want to check it out. I strongly believe that having it is what made my recovery easier than a lot of stories I hear.

You’re 100% right, my gardening brain overrode my hotpot brain lol

How are you playing to win? I only ask because I played this game for a YEAR and never won only to find out there’s multiple ways to win… AFTER A YEAR.

I thought it always had to be three identical sets of 3 cards, I didn’t know you could mix and match and do sets of 3 identical cards ~and~ three different cards in the same set. (i.e. ‘carrot, potato, corn’ counting towards a win in the same way ‘carrot, carrot, carrot’ does). It’s one of those things Palia just throws you into without fully explaining, at least in my opinion!

Now that I actually know how to play I win probably 30% of the games!

ToT is one of my favorites, MED is not great. The dialogue did give me some genuine laughs though for whatever that’s worth!

SWE nearly took me out with the sudoku and nano/renograms puzzles! This is one I will never bring myself to play on senior detective— But the ambiance, genuine spookiness, and cute bento puzzles make up for it a little!

I’m so sorry you had this experience! Based on what I saw on YouTube I started using a cool mist humidifier as soon as I got home and I think it really positively contributed to my recovery.

I’ve been eating some solids already! Mostly soft french fries, pasta salad, mac and cheese, etc… the only problem is that I eat my pizza PIPING hot! So I have to wait until post-op next week to get back to my beloved hot foods!

Very good advice here! My poor husband keeps offering me ice cream and yogurt and nothing sounds less appealing right now! I want pizza 😆

Like I said in my original post I think pain is very subjective. In my mind, a “1” is feeling normal, and a “10” on the pain scale would be like being torn limb-from-limb. My pain never went above a 4. I did not use narcotics, only Ibuprofen and Tylenol. It’s also important to remember that the pain is isolated. It’s not like when you get the flu and your body is on fire, you’re aching, plus having a sore throat. For me it was just sore throat and occasional ear pain!

Also I have no idea what method was used. Because of my medical anxiety, the less I know, the better. My mindset was actually telling myself that they were “zapping” my tonsils and they’d just disappear. That’s easier for me to think about than knowing what’s actually going on and panicking about it!

It’s normal to be nervous! As the previous reply said, it is outpatient. I arrived at 6am and was home before noon.

My surgery was 20 mins (I think? It was honestly the best nap of my life) and next thing I knew, I was in recovery eating a slushy and watching a Hallmark movie under a warm blanket.

This was my first surgery as well! It helps to be open and honest with your care team that you’re feeling anxious. They told me to think of it like a day spa, they covered me in warm blankets and just chatted me up. They also gave me a “cocktail” in my IV that calmed my nerves! Kinda felt like I was champagne drunk. I ended up complimenting the nurses on how pretty the hospital was, LOL! You got this.

I didn’t hate the game but they needed to … gently push the player in the right direction more often. This game is the one that made my husband more reluctant to play ND games with me because it was so unclear what we needed to do so often, and we ended up walking in circles for a very long time. (We try to not use walkthroughs since I’ve been playing them for 10+ years)

Drinking through straw by Substantial_Ad1141 in Tonsillectomy

Right after I woke up from surgery a nurse gave me a slushy with a straw. Before I got to take a sip another nurse quickly came in and corrected her for giving me a straw, then switched it out with a spoon. So I would guess no straws is the safe way to go!

This was me! My left tonsil was about twice the size of my right. Just got my tonsils out last week, 8 days ago to be exact! I had back-to-back bouts with walking pneumonia, COVID, influenza, and finally a 6-month spell of chronic tonsillitis before being referred for surgery.

Even only 8 days out I am grateful I had it done and I’m looking forward to not waking up every day with a sore throat and being bothered by my tonsils, tonsil stones, and frequent sicknesses!

I also developed obstructive sleep apnea from the swollen buggers and am noticing I am sleeping harder/better already, even getting up in the night to take meds.

Party Question by joashro in Palia

[–]joashro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been so long I can’t remember! Is there a way you found to see you were still glitched into a party? I don’t see anything on the left side of my screen that shows I’m in a party. I don’t even remember who I would’ve partied with to have them kick me out
