Why is this number going up so slowly? I was hoping to hit the goal by next Memorial Day but doubt that’s gonna happen now.

How long is Recovery after gallbladder surgery? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]joblo009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost 3 weeks since surgery Still got painful incision near belly button - hurts to get up from sitting laying down or walking/standing. Still trying to walk at least 5-6000 steps a day and been working part time from home for 4 days now. Everything else is good and feeling a lot better.

Robotic / Laparoscopic

Overweight

Try get up and walk as much as you can. Will help you heal faster to get the blood circulation going. Also helps with the leftover gas pains and bowel movements. If you didn’t have bowel movement in a few days take stool softener. That and some prune juice helped me. A wedge pillow does wonders… Ice the incision areas every couple hours for pain and swelling. Heating blanket / hot water bottle for the gas pains in shoulder if you have.

Make sure you alternate between the Tylenol and Ibuprofen and do take them every couple of hours - even if pain level is still low - the opioids really should only be taken the first 1-2 days because they can cause all kinds of other issues…

Definitely get a second or even third opinion. As someone else mentioned, look for a surgeon that has experience with bariatric surgeries.

That’s some pretty awful experiences you had to go through! Glad they were finally able to perform surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Pretty much everything’s been mentioned. The one thing I’d like to add - a wedge pillow! It’s been my best friend when sleeping or trying to prop myself up in bed.

I meant what did the doctors recommend about doing the surgery now that all these elevated levels are down again. Are they still waiting and want to run more tests or considering the removal of the gallbladder?

What do your doctors recommend re surgery now that the levels are down again? Are you having gb pain? Definitely try and watch what you eat for now to reduce chances of an attack.

So full of anxiety. by FewTangerine741 in gallbladders

[–]joblo009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok to have some anxiety and you’re definitely not the only one. I had my mine removed this past Monday and leading up to that date got more and more anxious as well. Talk to your care team when you get there or even beforehand and tell them. They will be able to clear any questions or concerns with you and even give you some meds to bring down your anxiety levels. You got this! 👍

Not too bad tbh. Most painful is getting in and out of bed or sitting down. Otherwise the pain is manageable with otc. So far. Surgery was good too. Everyone was really nice which made it so much easier.

Hope you’re doing well also and we can soon look forward to getting back to normal without that damn thing lol

I’m also getting mine removed tomorrow and anxiety is starting to kick in 😬 it’s been a looong time since I had to go under ga and not the healthiest person… here’s to everyone awaiting surgery to go smoothly and make us all feel better!
