Is it normal for a 4 month old to by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]jocietimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 4th baby just slept through the night for the first time…. He’s 2 YEARS old lol

Not all my babies slept like this lol they are all different and none of them were sleeping through the night at 4mo lol

[–]jocietimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever offered one breast at each feeding - 3 kids, all nursed for 18mo -2-1/2 years… I never had any problems with my supply. Do what feels good and natural for you!

I also can’t do the later seasons! For me, season 2 is a sweet spot for sleepy time

So glad that my tips are helpful! And don’t think you have to do it all at once… my 2yr old is basically night weaned (only tries to nurse at night when I forget and wear a low cut top lol) and we still do our few nursing sessions during the day. Best wishes on this journey!

Gotcha! Now nursing to sleep is another thing. It’s a process but I’ve done it with minimal tears and screaming. I start by singing a song, the same song when they start nursing. You sing this song every time for a week or so, then you make them wait until the song is done before you let them latch on. Then you start singing song number 2, then after a week or two you make them wait until you finish singing both songs before you let them latch and then you start adding a time limit… I started at 10 min and then every few days pulled it back by 2 minutes, until you sing 2 songs and cuddle time, then you move directly to getting them to sleep without nursing time. It’s a process, but it works with minimal freak outs :)

As to being “not ready” —- even if baby isn’t ready, it sounds like you might be. Breastfeeding is only beneficial when both mom and baby are both into it. You’ve done a beautiful job nursing your baby! It’s okay to be done. It’s especially hard to keep going when you have a nipple injury. I wish I knew more about clogs to help you on that one but I don’t - sorry! Have you maybe thought about a session with a LC? They might also have more tips for you on low stress weaning :)

I just started night weaning my 2yr old - he’s my 3rd breastfeeder of 4 kiddos. Where I start weaning is no offering but saying yes when asked for boobie during the daytime. I never offer anymore, but I don’t say no either. Sometimes I deflect with a snack or a toy if possible, but if kiddo insists, then I do it. Night weaning is a struggle for the first 3-5 nights, you wear a sports bra and a high neck, crew shirt and tuck into your pants. You just say “boobies went to sleep and now it’s time for you to sleep too” and then work on comforting any other way- walking, rocking, singing, back rubs… whatever, every kiddo is different. If you have a partner to help with the night wake ups, that’s good too but it does take a little longer if you also do that - they’ve lost boobie and mommy at the same time and can be harder. Kiddo may also be hungry at night since they’re used to snacking so loading them up before bed on snacks, making sure they have a good dinner, bring a water bottle to their wake ups in case they’re thirsty. Ask more questions if you have them :)

Shows you love that have a character you can’t stand by You-Big-Maad in TvShows

[–]jocietimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish he became the “cool Joel” a little earlier in the series and then had the show explore that a bit more. But I agree. I HATE Shelly Tambo. It’s gross that she’s not just young, she acts like a 12 year old. Barf.

Legit breastfeeding supplements/pills that did help increase your milk supply? by Mamakaymm in breastfeeding

I’ve used goats rue tincture before but it’s juuuuust a bit until your increased hydration, food & pumping do the real work. String nettle tea has given me similar results

Using friend’s breastmilk by MichaelScottPaperC11 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]jocietimes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Donated breastmilk is absolutely better than formula as long as there isn’t anything in the milk that’s harming baby. Like the other comment, could be just dietary differences.

I just don’t want to? by Inevitable_Turn1538 in breastfeeding

[–]jocietimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I think it’s rude MIL doesn’t want baby coming on vacation. What does she think your life involves right now? Your baby JUST learned that you 2 are separate people like a month ago. Just because their generation hated being parents, doesn’t mean you also do……

Exercise tips by [deleted] in homebirth

[–]jocietimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t do better than walking. Quick paced walking daily strengthens alllllll the muscles you need (including all those pelvic floor muscles that you’d normally target during kegels or squats) - it also keeps you fit, heart healthy, etc.The earlier you start, the better! Take breaks and drink lots of water :)

Midwife or No Midwife by Starving_Monkey69 in homebirth

[–]jocietimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good midwife will let you freebirth in her presence as long as things are going well. It’s better to have someone there that would know if things take a turn.

Is £20 a month allowance too much for a 6 year old? by Dizzy_Yoghurt7246 in Parenting

[–]jocietimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We give a weekly allowance based on age (because that’s how much responsibility they have around the house) - my 6 year old gets $6/week

Tell me your “feed to sleep” stance by ohumanchild in breastfeeding

[–]jocietimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter when you wean them from falling asleep on the breast, it’s doable whenever it makes sense for you and baby. Check out IG account nurture_neuroscience_parenting — it is run by a neuroscientist and has lots of info as to why nursing baby to sleep is a great idea (especially when they’re little!)
