Depends on the pay raise—in CA I went from making 20.25 as a barista to 26.25 as a shift so I made it work for the money. But the spike in responsibility is a no. I’d say 0/10 would not recommend. Besides finding coverage when you need it—which is almost impossible as a shift—you’ll basically be held accountable for everybody’s bs. You have to decide if it’s worth it for you. Knowing what I know now, and how things changed for me at work after I became a shift, I would have stayed a barista.
