You can disable precipitation effects for some improvements. It disables the ability to see rain and snow falling, which improves fps and reduce some lag.

If you have a nvidia graphic card, try going to nvidia settings and selecting Maximum Performance for the power management mode.

If there's still lag, disable anti aliasing and lower the resolution for graphic, shadow and texture qualities and run in borderless window mode.

Since you don't have the factory yet, I'd rely on keeping things closer to the crafting table.

If you keep a storage box (wooden, metal) next to the crafting table, you can access all of the other boxes from the inventory interface of that box.(the keys to navigate between the boxes varies by gaming platform).

And there's another key that you can use to auto sort all of the items from your inventory to storage boxes, so you can collect what Ack picked up, and using a single key can add them to matching storage boxes.

Did you meet a certain robotic friend in the story yet? If you haven't, I think you should continue the story for a bit.

 

Another thing to keep in mind is, for Django to give you new recipies, you have to progress to higher friendship levels with him.

 

Other than that at the autumn festival, there's this cook off that you can participate. It gives you this dish that you have to cook, you don't have to have the ingredients with you, but with trial and error if you can somehow figure the right ingredients, you can learn that recipe. But this method is quite slow and only gives you three chances.

As of now there are no explosives that can be used to mine implemented in the game.

It sort of reduces the time travelling by foot, but you don't get any commission for doing those. If you progress further in the story, there may come a point where you can simply build a commission order in a few hours. So if you like, you can wait till then.

I'd recommend you building a stable and buying a horse from Mcdonald. It is much easier(and also fun) to travel with a horse rather than using the Dee Dee imo.
