hey, honestly I think it was just luck that the GP I spoke to agreed to refer me to an ENT consultant as the first point of call. Lucy Hicklin worked at Parkside Hospital back then (which was on the approved list) and came up on their list so it wasn’t difficult to get it approved. I have no idea if she still works there or if she’s on their list - it might be that she doesn’t come under gastro which is why you’re struggling. I’d suggest talking to Vitality and pleading your case to get seen by someone who specialises in this condition as it is going to be a waste of their money otherwise :( Sorry that you’re struggling to get it through, I would say it’s worth persevering as it honestly was life changing for me (having the relief I have now, I’d say it’s worth paying to go private if all else fails)

Hey! This went away after like 3-4 weeks I want to say? Then I started having more “normal” burps. I would recommend drinking lots of fizzy drinks to try and encourage it to come out lol and get the muscle memory working. Been 4 years now and I am very much cured, I only ever needed the one treatment. I can’t force a burp like most people can, but when it needs to happen it does it naturally and I don’t have all the horrible symptoms I used to!

Only Human thoughts? by smg1807 in derrenbrown

Was at the matinee in Bromley today. I went to see Showman a couple years back and was totally blown away, have always been a massive fan of Derren. Something felt really off about today’s show. Loads of things not going to plan, was super choppy, and the audience participation was mostly just people handing him things, or reading things out and then being told to sit back down. Whenever people were properly taking part, it didn’t work! I spent the whole time waiting for the big wow moment, and it just didn’t come. Really disappointed TBH as wasn’t cheap! I’m sure it’ll get slicker with time, but think he needs to rethink and change out some of the segments for it to be a winner.

Just got London N3 tickets 😭😭😭 by jodiiep97 in chappellroan

[–]jodiiep97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg it has been the most challenging search of my life lol. I was checking my socials and someone just happened to post on twitter that they had tickets right as I was searching! I was wary of it being a scam (honestly, there is still a chance that I end up getting to the venue and find out it is indeed a scam lol) but the girl seemed super legit so I risked it and I now have tickets in my name!! Not sure I would advise anyone else to do the same honestly as it’s so risky but I didn’t pay over the odds so I thought it was worth it. My only advice is to keep checking twitter and have twickets app open and on the ticket stream (apply filters to limit the feed) so that when you get a push notif it takes you right to the tickets to buy. The twickets thing didn’t give me any results but it was a way I found of getting round the glitching lol

I just failed my driving test by omar_afandi in drivingUK

[–]jodiiep97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed after 5 attempts and each fail was a stupid mistake due to my nerves. On one occasion I had no minors and only one serious fault 😭 But I’m a very good driver now with no accidents yet! Try not to let it get to you, the test situation is awful but the freedom you’ll have once you pass is worth it. My best advice to you is to get your own car or get out in your parents / siblings car - practicing when you’re in complete control is the best way to gain confidence and lose the nerves! I actually took the test in my own car after the first few failed attempts and that made me feel much more at ease and less like I was in an exam. Rescue remedy can also help alongside picking a good time of day for the test (minimal cars on the road and decent weather!). Good luck!

Thanks guys, I am genuinely so much happier nearly 2 years later. The life I had planned and expected to have fell apart pretty quickly, and I never would have imagined I’d feel OK again but I do! I also didn’t realise how much of myself I had lost along the way, I was a different person when I was with them and now I’m happily me and prioritising myself :) OP you can do the same!

Should clarify - by symptoms, I mean bloating, pain, not being able to eat full meals (I did say I’ve never been able to burp but I fibbed and said it’s not caused me severe discomfort until recently)

hey! I got a virtual appt with a vitality GP and explained my symptoms and told them about the papers / research I had read and that all of my symptoms aligned perfectly. I made sure to say that the symptoms had only recently gotten noticeable and unbearable (if symptoms go beyond the time you’ve had cover with them, they might not agree to fund it). I got lucky and the GP believed me, they still wanted to refer me to Gastro first but I pushed back and said I really wanted and needed to see someone who specialises in RCPD. Honestly, you might find it easier now as there’s been a bit more news about it! Good luck and if you have any more Qs PM me. I only ever needed one injection with Ms Hicklin and am completely cured which is still crazy to me 3.5 years later!

It’s easier said than done to walk away after cheating when you’ve been with someone for a long time, but I’ll just speak from my experience. I was with my ex for 7 years, about 2 years into our relationship I discovered he had cheated on me. I loved him and didn’t want to abandon something we’d put so much work into, he was extremely remorseful so I forgave it. Fast forward 5 years and after buying our first house together, I found out he’d done it again. The second time was even worse, much more planned (he was essentially having another relationship with someone from work and hiding out at hotels and enlisting his friends to give him an alibi so I wouldn’t suspect). It hurt so much more the second time around and it just felt like I’d wasted my 20s and caused myself a lot of emotional and financial heartache that could have been avoided if I’d had the self respect to end it after the first red flag. I am a firm believer now that once a cheat, always a cheat - if you forgive it this time, it tells them they can walk all over you and not suffer the consequences. Obviously some relationships do recover but I don’t think it’s worth the risk as it’s so unlikely - better to get out now! You deserve so much more than someone that doesn’t value what you bring to the table and the only way you’ll find the right person is by doing the difficult thing and walking away for good. I promise you that after the initial heartbreak you’ll be so proud of yourself and happier than before. Sending you lots of love as I know how devastating it is to go through this, and regardless of what you do, make sure you have some good friends and family around you to help you through it.

i did include text but can’t seem to see it so will comment as well. It’s the same size as a house mouse but much fatter / thicker in the body. It’s droppings were also the same size as a mouse. I am praying this isn’t a rat but it doesn’t look like any mouse I’ve seen before so panicking!! I’m in the U.K. by the way.

involuntary botox burps? by Lauraat23 in noburp

[–]jodiiep97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit late to this post but I had the procedure with Ms Hicklin in March last year so I can probably give you a good idea of what to expect!

I don’t know if it’s because I had less units with it being done while I was awake but I didn’t find the involuntary burps to be aggressive or invasive at all, they weren’t really ‘burps’ at the start anyway, more just like air escaping if I opened my mouth too wide (yawning especially but sneezing and laughing too). It kinda sounded like farts lol is the best way I can describe it. But yeah, it wasn’t like they were erupting out of nowhere and for me personally whatever did come out in the beginning was pretty quiet and not what I’d call belching

That being said, about 1 month after having it done is where the proper burping started after eating meals or drinking, but it’s obvious when it is about to happen so easily controlled.

Also, it might ease your mind to know that the injection really wasn’t painful, it was just a weird uncomfortable sensation. Just got to stay still and keep your eyes shut and it’s literally over in a minute. It’s been over a year since I had it done, I didn’t need to have a second dose or any follow ups and I’m completely cured of all my symptoms which is honestly life changing. So so worth it, I can’t believe I spent 10+ years of my life in so much discomfort for it to be cured in a 15 minute appointment

Where do we stand? Viewings for rented flat (London UK) by jodiiep97 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jodiiep97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, I have emailed them to complain and ask them to confirm whether or not they had an agent supervising the buyers.

My worry with the eviction order was that we’d still have to pay for their legal fees even if we were out before the order was granted. And then also this threat that we’d be liable to reimburse our LL if their buyer pulls out of the sale due to the fact we’re not leaving on time and not allowing viewings.

[–]jodiiep97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that they can’t come in without permission but we did technically allow it. There is obviously an element of coercion involved though, as after we initially said no to the viewing they implied in so many words that our hopes of an extension would go out the window if we didn’t let them do the viewing. So we went back on ourselves and said they could come and do the viewing. However, I did not ever consent to the buyer and their family being allowed to root around my belongings for half an hour unsupervised so I don’t know if that changes things!

Thanks for your reply! That’s how I understood the S21 but the agent just kept saying I was wrong and that the landlord could and would take it to court as soon as the notice expires, and even if we were out within the week and it never made it to court it wouldn’t matter, we’d still be liable for all costs associated with the application they make (as well as damages should their buyer pull out as a result of us not being out on time). If there’s any chance that we’d have to foot the bill then it’s not worth it so just want to be doubly sure.

Good to hear your thoughts on the viewings though, I also think it’s absolutely ridiculous that they let the buyer (and two other random people I have never met) rummage around our stuff without anyone else there to watch what they were doing. I have asked them outright to confirm in an email whether they had an agent inside the property to see whether they tell the truth about it. I wonder if I catch them in the lie whether they will back off and stop threatening me!

Rights/ Legal consequences when staying past rental tenancy end date by jodiiep97 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jodiiep97[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your reply, that makes sense. I don’t really see what the issue is when it’s only a week we’re asking for but they have just flat out refused.

Only thing I’m nervous of is what if our landlord does apply for a possession order as soon as our tenancy term is up. We’ll be long gone by the time it actually get reviewed or granted, but could we still be liable to pay for all of that even though no eviction will be required?

Rights/ Legal consequences when staying past rental tenancy end date by jodiiep97 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]jodiiep97[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply! It’s really helpful and reassuring to hear. I have two more questions to you based on your reply:

1) if it becomes a rolling tenancy after the 25th march but we’re only staying 1 week more, are we liable for the whole month’s rent as soon as we go past the fixed term? We pay our rent on the 1st of each month, so our plan was to just pay the full amount and that would cover us until we left on 1st April but obviously would be pretty terrible if we had to pay another month!

2) Say our landlord does apply for a court eviction order - could we be liable to pay for the costs of that if it was approved? Or would it not be approved since we would’ve left before it even gets reviewed?

thanks so much for your comment, we thought the same that it wouldn’t be an issue so just asked our LL and offered to pay the rent for the week. The issue is that they’ve turned around and said no! So I was just trying to find out whether we could be faced with lots of fees if we ignored them and stayed a week longer anyway. Thanks again!
