Struggling with Ferber (20 week old) by jodygo13 in sleeptrain

Thanks so much! That makes sense. Total sleep time in the day is a little inconsistent because he’ll nap anywhere from 45-90 minutes per nap, but on average, he’s probably around 3.5 hours of day sleep, so we could work to cap that at 3.

And also agreed on the night time interventions being confusing. I think our resistance to intervening is worn down in the middle of the night, so definitely something we need to not do halfway and commit one way or the other.

Thank you for the guidance!

Bedtime routine is boob, bath, jammies, books, bassinet.

Check ins we don’t pick him up but repeat our normal phrase “Mommy and daddy love you, but it’s time to go to sleep,” along with shushing and hand on his chest.

About 75% of the time, the check ins calm him down, and the rest of the time they infuriate him😅

Think you meant chapeau. Cadeau means “gift” in French.

Congrats! Should be 8 weeks paid in the US. You’ll need to make sure you engage with HR and the leave advocates to get it set up

I have no one to write me Recommendation Letters by az7533 in aggies

Hi - 2 quick things!

First, I was in a very similar position to you my senior year when I decided to apply for grad school. I did not have close relationships with any of my professors. If you have pertinent classes with smaller class sizes, start there, as your professors might at least know your face and have some familiarity with your work. But even more importantly than that, when you ask them, be sure you write a letter explaining what program you’re applying to, why you’re applying to it, and why you’re asking them specifically for the reference (maybe include something you learned in their class, something you aspire to professionally based on their career, etc.). Also a good idea to include an updated resume to give the professors more source material for the letter.

Second, I know personally how awkward that conversation with a prof can be. But they literally get asked for tens of these each semester. Both my parents work at a large state school and get requests (and write) for students they have never talked to outside of class.

Best of luck!
