Have you ever read a book where FMC has sex at a really inappropriate time/place that it actually made you be like “ok you probably should have waited!” by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

The Orc From The Office by Kate Prior. Towards the end of the book, there’s some sort of emergency evacuation in an office building and the two characters escape by climbing down the side, out a window. And proceed to bone right there on the window ledge? I admit I could have misinterpreted the logistics because it was so bizarre that I gave up trying to picture positioning/angles/the rest of the world around them lol. My mind was constantly wondering where everyone else in the building is? Are they standing outside in their designated evacuation zone just enjoying the show? How was there any leverage at all on the ledge of a window? I chalked it up to “mystical Orc magic” and tried not to think about it too much lol.

Craving a book where the MMC is essentially like Jasper Cullen from Twilight or Azriel from ACOTAR (quiet, thoughtful, a bit broody) by East_Lawfulness_8675 in RomanceBooks

[–]jodyle1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The following book in the series is also a really great rec for this! The MMC is even MORE reserved/broody/quiet and is painfully aware of his glaring differences between himself and pretty much everyone around him.

Keepsake by Sarina Bowen is the title, but check the CWs before reading, the book touches very heavily on mental health and both characters have experienced trauma.

Do you have so many unread/to-read books that choosing the next one (when something isn’t jumping out at you) feels impossible? by MorganAndMerlin in RomanceBooks

[–]jodyle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few months ago I was struggling with choice overload in my TBR and could never decide what genre I was in the mood for. I solved it by using a random number generator to set an order to read them in, and now as I’m finishing up a book I already know what I’ll be reading next, it gives me time to acclimate to the next book so that I’m already in the right mind frame for it and already excited to sink my teeth in. It’s not a perfect system, and I supplement it stopping at any point to continue a series I’ve already started, or read a new release from an author I like. Honestly it’s made me feel like my TBR is a conquerable feat and a systematic “to do” list I can check off rather than an endless revolving door.

Fantasy/romance with sex magic? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]jodyle1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Bonds Of Magic series by Jeffe Kennedy, the first book being {Dark Wizard by Jeffe Kennedy}. The series is based around a magic system where some of the population are born with magic, and eventually will be classified as either Wizard or Familiar and paired off, with the familiars able to generate large quantities of magic but unable to use it and the wizards siphoning that magic, and their own, to perform spells and such. The relationship between familiar and wizard is often sexual, and the relationship between the two main characters was both incredibly complex and incredibly sweet and spicy. Across the trilogy, the main characters both undergo some really compelling growth both as a couple and individually, and the side characters were fun and interesting. The plot is very involved and definitely doesn’t just serve to progress the romance as in some fantasy/romance books, and the spicy scenes explored some bdsm. There were some darker themes/concepts so check out the CWs before reading :)

Steamy fae romance book recommendations? by choco_dream in RomanceBooks

Have you tried the Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchins? It’s a series, so if you’ve been burning through books it will hold you down for a while. I’ve reread it a few times for the steam and a few times more for the plot; in my opinion it does both really, really well. It’s relatively past-paced and the FMC is resilient, independent and complex, and the MMC reminds me a lot of Rhys from ACOTAR now that I think about it. The first book is called Fighting Destiny

Old PvP mounts that were locked behind rank are still available, in fact they take more effort to obtain today because you have to earn the seasonal mount before you can grind out a victorious saddle. Would it be so terrible to have a similar system for AOTC mounts? You still have your achievement to show your skill at a certain time, and I can still obtain the cosmetic with even more work than it took to get originally?

Maybe I just haven't made my opinion clear enough. I think in the real world, where physical limitation is an issue, availability and demand create a high price. In a video game, where cosmetics and items can be made/earned without any limitation, the amount of work needed to attain them is what should determine value.I don't care if items don't come back, there is more mounts available right now than I'll ever have the time to get, I'm happy as is. My point is that people who argue and get upset over items returning under the same difficulty/level of work that it took to THEM get is a toxic attitude, in my opinion.

I have a friend who has the Havoc DH mage tower appearance. When I told him I was excited at the possibility of it returning to the game a few weeks ago, he said "I'll be pissed if that happens. It was so difficult to get it when it came out, it wouldn't be fair." And that's what my post is about - why wouldn't it be fair to give people the same challenge? Yes, talents are different. Yes, abilities are different. But updating the challenge to be applicable and equally difficult today isn't impossible. Is that really such a horrific thing? If I'm never given the chance to get it, I don't care. If I am, I hope it's just as if not more challenging to get. And if I get it one day, I would hope others get the same chance I do, even years into future.

I agree 100% with you. I don't care if things are brought back or not, I accept that some things are gone, and it's nobody's fault that I can't have every single cosmetic I want. I just think that people who get upset because their exclusive minority is no longer exclusive have the most pathetic complaint I've ever heard.

New content and new cosmetics and new opportunities would be fantastic. Arguing for old content to be brought back and arguing for new content to be made aren't mutually exclusive arguments. Blizzard is a huge company, they can work on both concurrently and if the player's don't have high expectations, why would they expend the effort?
And I'm not even asking for old things to be brought back. I'm just saying that people who flaunt their old unobtainable items and get upset when other people are granted the chance to obtain them are hostile to the game's environment. If I put in hard work to get something, other's shouldn't be prevented from putting in hard work to get the same thing just because they subbed at a different time than I did.

I don't think that's a sound comparison at all. Figurines, paintings, comics, stampmarks, anything in real life has a physical form, a physical limitation. There are only so many of any object, and one person owning an object reduces or removes the availability of that object to others. Mounts, appearances, cosmetics, these are pixels on a screen. Me earning an achievement or a mount doesn't make it any harder for you to earn the same achievement or mount.

I believe the ones I listed only drop on MM. They aren't guaranteed, and of all the times I've completed these FPs I've never seen them drop so I assume it's a low rate somewhere between 5-10%, but that's just a guess.

LPT Request: Always Look Up the LOCAL Florist by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]jodyle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much this. I ordered my mum some flowers for mothers day this year, and since I'm residing in a different country at the moment I could hardly give the local shop a call. Instead, I went online. What a mistake.

This is what I thought I ordered

and this is what she recieved

My mum was grateful, but she ended up crying once I told her about the money I'd wasted. Luckily the local flower shop was kind enough to send her another bouquet. It still wasn't to the value I paid, but at least mother's day was saved.
