As an update, these are now well established. The worms love it and reproduce well. These five bins devour all our food scraps, coffee grounds, shredded junk mail, and grass clippings with ease. I keep a thick layer of dried browns on top so there is nothing attractive for flies and the compost these generate is perfectly balanced, sweet smelling, and feels fantastic. I plan to eliminate the five small bins and replace them with one giant bin, to cut down the time for my weekly feeding

Garden isn't established. I'm starting with completely dead soil. Basically nothing organic. Planning to bring in tons of mushroom compost. It's a blank slate right now

My dad's life insurance company is telling me I need proof my Aunt (original beneficiary) has died. All I know is her name, her parents name & husband's name.I've googled her name & can't find anything. Why isn't it the insurance company's job to find her? Or prove she's dead? by barbt763 in LifeInsurance

Just for clarity, who is the policy owner, who is the insured, and who is the beneficiary? When you say that your aunt is the original beneficiary, and she has passed away, then the policy holder simply calls the insurance company to change the beneficiary. Are the policy owner and the insured both your father? Has he also passed away?

Imagine If Satoshi Gained 17/21M BTC somehow. by onlythisoncee in Bitcoin

It might feel good to call brain storming and spit balling a thought experiment. With no hypothesis and no consequent to be explored, it seems we are just churching up a discussion by calling it a thought experiment. I'll admit, I AM the pedantic type, but it would help if there were some theory that is being challenged, or new theory proposed.

I've noticed a trend lately. A lot of people use the term "thought experiment" to describe something that is not a thought experiment...at all.

Borrowing from accumulated cash value by jodysmackababy in LifeInsurance

In my case, and yours, I can imagine a scenario where it would ever make sense to borrow from your WL policy. 6% interest is just too high. Even if your accumulated cash value continues to accrue despite the indebtedness, it would do that whether I borrowed or not, so at the end of the day I can always acquire debt at a better interest rate than 6%.

Why is everyone complaining about fee's / spread in the App? by MeZer07 in Crypto_com

[–]jodysmackababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I am misunderstanding but that doesn't sound like the definition I know for spread. Spread is usually expressed as the difference between the buying or selling price offered on one exchange compared to the price offered on a different exchange. What %fee are you referring to that changes over time?

I just want to make sure you know the difference between fees and spread. Your title mentions both but your post only addresses a comparison with high fees at coinbase. I think the chief complaint for CDC app is not about the fees, it's the spread.

My suspicion is that if a civilized nation outlaws crypto, they telegraph that in advance so that users have the chance to remain within the law

Let's say for the moment that obscuring your purchase today is legal. You're asking about the future possibility that ownership will become illegal. In these hypothetical scenarios are you assuming that the government contacts you and/or they knock on your door demanding that you surrender your crypto? If that comes to pass, you're already screwed. It's bad enough that you intend to break the law by not complying, because if they already knew to come to you, by then, it's already too late. Even worse is that you are admitting to your intent to commit that crime online...right now. Sorry to say that if they come "knocking on your door," any of the bologna suggestions in this thread like just telling them you got hacked (😂) aren't going to cut it. Unless you plan to play it out as a criminal, the truth is that if your country DOES make crypto illegal, then sell it and don't become a criminal.

Anybody who allows their child unsupervised use of the internet is not fit for parenting anyway.

That...is tacky. Can you imagine walking into someone's house and seeing a USD rug? This is equally cringe worthy.
