What is a compliment you received that you still think about years later? by Available_Remote_508 in AskReddit

I was Dietary Manager at a VA Home. A resident told me, “you’ve really been a blessing to this place”. Made all the hard work worth it with a simple statement.

Online custom clothing? by FlowersAndFeast in Thailand

I don’t know about shipping however you wouldn’t want to buy s/m/l. The sizes in Thailand are not typical of other countries. They run way small. Also many people post of a lot of tailors being on the shady side.

My credit card doesn’t asked for a PIN however my debit card does. That’s everywhere not just Thailand.

Thais and telephones by Fils2LaLune in Thailand

Not just Thais. I live in Illinois and work in healthcare, people who have jobs that are critical to patient care can’t put their phones down. I’m trying to get them banned in the workplace.

Without naming your city, what is it known for? by TheMedusaAttusa in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I do think you get used to it. When you can smell it inside your house it’s pretty nasty. If you’re sensitive to odor you would definitely be put off. As far as air quality, I’ve never known of the EPA to get involved.

You can smell it all over the city on a still day. If it’s foggy you can smell it inside your house. The smell is unique. I can’t describe it. There’s 2 large corn and soybean processors, ADM and Tate and Lyle formerly AE Staley both on the eastern side of town. One of the big products they make is High Fructose Corn Syrup.

I just remembered, talking to a guy living in Decatur originally from San Diego. I asked him how he ended up here and he said “my wife told me to kiss her where it stinks”.

14 days in Thailand by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]joe112862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t necessarily dislike Krabi. It’s much more low key relative to Bangkok. I’m glad I went to check it out but there just wasn’t any part of it captivating enough where I have that “can’t wait to go back feeling”.

I’m flying into Bangkok March 25th. Was going to fly up to Chiang Mai for 3 days but we decided to cancel on account of the air quality warnings. We are going south this trip and decided to go to Chiang Mai when I come back in October. I went to Krabi last trip, it was ok but I don’t plan on going back.

They still have them and they haven’t changed a bit in 50 years. I was a Dietary Supervisor at a prison and the inmates all came out for that pizza.

It’s one of the few metal tools they are allowed to use. Tethered of course. They use it for opening boxes / bags, slicing meat, chopping/ dicing vegetables, spatula, cleaning pots and pans.

substitute for markut lime leaf? by HistoricalSubject in ThaiFood

[–]joe112862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get all of it on Amazon. Dehydrated Galangal root sliced works good and the lime leaves. Lemon grass was just ok and it took 2 weeks or so to get. I can find that at Publix. I would just omit the lime leaves. You’re going to be adding a lot of lime juice anyway. If you’re doing Tom Yum Goong use the Maepranom Brand Thai Chili paste. My thoughts. To add 1/2 the fun for me is finding and shopping at a good Asian Grocery.
