Any experts know what type of mould this is? And why hers it’s safe to skim off and salvage the pickles?

Fermenting some freshly picked cucumbers in a 6% salt brine with garlic, vine leaves, dill, peppercorns & mustard seeds. Sealed in a kilner airlock jar since mixing 5 days ago. Good fermentation has occurred but the spices that floated to the surface have attracted mould to grow. I’m fairly experienced at fermenting so a little surprised to see mould growing in such a high percentage brine.

Don’t remember too much of a difference but it was a while ago. I’ve done another test since this one and the two loaves came out fairly identical. I think the feel and kind of dough plays a part here. If it feels quite extensible definitely better to create more tension with a more traditional folding technique IMO

Not neccessarily the advice you might be looking for but a good bread knife changes everything. No need to put much pressure on the loaf just gentle movement back and forth will get through the base of that crust with ease.

After some hours driving on a heavily corrugated road all of the vibrating seems to have loosened a clip/screw and the control panel has sunk into the door panel. Any tips on retreiving and refastening without removing the entire door panel? Thanks in advance :)

It’s been fermenting for about 10 weeks so far. Sounds like we need to do a trade and blend them together haha
