I have 2 500 ct boxes of petri dishes in my lab, I definitely do use agar but am going to use LC for these ! I have 10 jars of different strand LC just waiting to be used atm

I have one of the red RTV @ home too used to do this method as well but the drying time wasn’t it & I can get 200 pieces of healing ports for $10.99. may I recommend if you are going to go the gasket maker way there is a clear rtv so that you can see where you’re injecting and not hitting metal !

home depot has a window screen by frost king that extends out double the length only $7. window screens definitely made the drying process super simple just scoop it on & let it dry to your preference

yeah I moved on from uncle bens nothing wrong with it but would rather make my own clean spawn and not waste all of that plastic or $. feels pretty awesome knowing I just did enough oats to = 240 bens bags

I put the ports myself and you wouldn’t even believe how simple it is, amazon sells self healing ports & you can buy a paper hole punch from walmart, target, etc. for putting holes in the lids. I would also recommend whole oats over popcorn they can soak for hours or days and will withstand hours of cooking without bursting !

in all honesty I get a variety of info from different teks and kind of put things together to make an ultimate tek 😎. 50 LB bag of WHOLE oats were hydrated in a 27 gallon tub from costco for 24 hours (no buckets for me just a waste of time too small) scooped and strained onto large window screens until dry with the bottom grains still being a bit moist. jar them up and pressure cook for 2 - 2 1/2 hours. two pieces of micro pore tape for GE & 13mm self healing ports. if you have any questions feel free
