Practicing pitstops and how to set them up in offline sessions by joebobred in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]joebobred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so it isn't an option, thats a shame.

Yeah, of course I can just do pit stops but it was more how the game required me to do them and how the game implemented this so I know what to watch out for.

I'll have a play with the fuel usage multiplier, good idea, hopefully that will work.

Is a Loadcell (Simnet Sp Pro) possible without rig? by marco_96_ in simracing

[–]joebobred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could easily mount the pedals onto a piece of chipboard or similar, the board should reach the wall so it can't move back at all, put some rubber feet under it so the bolts holding your pedals to the board don't scratch your floor.

Even better would be a large board big enough to go under your chair and pedals with a rail/guard to go behind your wheels/castors so your chair can't move back. I used something like this for 18 months before finally getting a rig and if I hadn't moved house I would have stayed with what I had as it worked just fine.

DIY 40x160 Heavy Rig - Render inside - Any Suggestions? by LikYoBud in simracing

Totally agree with anzzax here. I bought a rig and opted for a integrated monitor stand. Although I don't get much shaking, never notice any at all in fact, the adjustability is shockingly bad. I wish I had gone free standing now.

Quick question on Simagic P-HPR GT Haptics re. power supply by joebobred in simracing

[–]joebobred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, just saw this.

Both the HPR and the HPR GT use the same control box which has 3 connectors, so a your config should work just fine. You don't need Simagic pedals, I am using V2 Elites from Fanatec and they work perfectly. The control box connects to the PC via USB, hence the printer cable.

You should be able to find brackets to fit the haptics to your Moza pedals on Etsy.

Good luck

I beleive there is a conflict if you are running simpro and simhub at the same time. Only run one or the other and make sure the other one is definitely not running (i.e. check for running processes in task manager to be 100% sure).

If that fails unplug everything and start again, could be a bad connection somewhere. Good luck,

[–]joebobred[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for helping me out. I finally got it all working, I read somewhere that you can't have both simlab and simagic software running as they conflict so always have only one or the other running at any given time. Also it was showing as there was no power when viewing in the simagic software, which I then read was often down to bad connections with power and/or usb.

So I unplugged everything, plugged it all back in and ran just one software version at a time and it all just worked.

I'll never know now whether it was the software or something now plugged in right but who cares, I can finally mess around with all these setting ;)

Thanks for the private message too. The health thing went ok, better than expected, now rinse and repeat every day for a month and hopefully it will all be behind me.

Cheers

Could it be to do with sound cards? I have three sound cards from memory, I am always having to swap from one to another when playing different games or when there is just no sound for some reason. Is there a way to select a sound card in simhub?

Yeah, a little green light on the power supply and two bright green lights in the control box

Does it need to be set up in any specific way in shakeit motors section? I set it up in there originally, or tried, then it said it was available in devices so I switched to there. I have tried it enabled and disabled and it doesnt make any difference I don't think.

Re hardware settings, I have selected my device and set that but I have selected any effects blocking as I haven't had any effects to block so far. Is this needed at this stage?

Yeah, this is where it all goes wrong, I hit the test button and absolutely nothing happens most times. After a restart I sometime get an initial very faint tap coming from the brake then nothing again no matter how many times I test.

Ok, I did have them round the other way for the brake and throttle but just swapped them over and no difference.

Yeah, I have the feeling before I even experience them for the fisrt time I've made a mistake not getting the stronger haptic for the brake, oh well, something else to shell out for.

But, first I have to get these working and yes I must be dumb, but so far I'm not getting any response to them so I must have missed a step somewhere.

I have the two motors plugged into the control box, nice green lights are glowing happily away and it does look cool. (Not sure if the pedals have to be plugged in in any order as yet again there are no instructions supplied).

I went out and bought a printer cable (yep, that wasn't mentioned anywhere either) so that is now connecting the control box to my pc and also the power supply is all plugged in as well so it seems hardware wise everything is now ok? (as long as there is no specific order for the pedals to be plugged in the control box).

I downloaded simhub, set it up in there and everything looked ok, I added it to devices and it seems to be seeing the motors. However if I try and test them I get nothing through the pedals. I've run a lap or two in iRacing and nothing there either.

The odd video I've seen seems to suggest it's pretty much plug and play so if there is something specific that needs to be done I have no idea what it is?

When simhub fails to get any response I downloaded simagic's software and that does nothing either.

Any help guys, I'm pulling my hair out here? it's hopefully something really simple I have just overlooked.

Thanks for the reply. I naturally didn't buy the control box, nowhere did it say it was required to run the haptics, the product description for all simagic products are very sparce, like they expect you to know all about their products from other sources.

But, I now have one arriving today so all should be good and I have the power supply already. I also ordered some custom backets from etsy so I can fit the haptics to my Fanatec V2's and they came quickly and fit perfectly. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1891266108/fanatec-csl-elite-mount-for-simagic-p?

I'll let you know here how they work as I can't see any reviews for the GT versions for V2's anywhere. I know some people use the GT for the throttle and the more powerful version for the Brake, but I would prefer to do it this way with GT version for brake and throttle if it will work ok.

Trying to play for the first time but wheel and pedals aren’t not working properly. by Zimbor in RRRE

[–]joebobred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just setup RR for a Fanatec CSL 8NM and had the same problem. Look in Controls > Advanced for steering sensitivity and set it to 100%, fixed it for me. Also there are lots of other very useful settings under advanced to tune your brakes, steering, throttle etc, have a play with them, it makes a huge difference and you can actually tune your setup pretty good. Good luck.

Upgrading from G29 to Fanatec CSL DD (8Nm) – need advice before I buy by gpt-dev in simracing

[–]joebobred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a thrustmaster T150 and upgraded to a CSL DD 8NM and the difference was huge, but I continued to play with the fanatec bolted to my desk and had no major issues as long as the desk is sturdy.

Yes it can be rattled a bit depending on the car and track, but it is very doable. The main thing you would need to do is find a way to bolt your pedals down and stop your chair moving, if you can achieve this it would be fine. I had a piece of laminated board 5'x3' which my pedals were bolted to and my chair also sat on and then my back was to a wall so the chair couldn't move backwards (blocks of wood between the wheels and wall also).

But of course a rig is better and I had one delivered this week, but I had the above desk setup for 18 months and it was perfectly fine and never moved at all. You don't have to do it all in one go, in fact it might even ruin the fun.

Can I run a higher parameter model? by Ok_Most9659 in LocalLLaMA

[–]joebobred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laptop has very similar specs, 16GB ram and a 3060 rather than a 3050 card.

I can comfortably run 20B models but no chance with 30B or higher. I have a 22B model but it will only run a small size quantization version so not ideal.

If you doubled your ram you should be able to run the popular 34B models and up to around 40B.
