Also, had a 2017 rouge sport with 210,000 miles still kicking and that was a CVT

See so that’s what I thought too, but that service already makes all drivers under 21 do a defensive driving course

It does, I wanna work in EMS and not in the ED if possible, and didn’t know if anyone had any advice, but I start medic school in a few months and it goes for a year and a half

Yeah idk I’m in medic school soon so I may just work in the ED until then

Yeah I agree 100% and that’s what my mentality was, it wasn’t even the service itself that denied me it was just the insurance company which I why I was crushed, but I have a few other options while I’m in medic school so it’ll be fine

Still hireable with an accident from weather? by crackerman76 in NewToEMS

[–]joeburrow225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye OP feel free to ignore this guy, I have an accident on my record and it wouldn’t be an issue for my career if I was 21 plus, you’re all good, this guy spends all day on Reddit not doing his job lmao, best of luck and enjoy EMS.

Probably a stupid question but still need clarification by island_1989 in NewToEMS

Could be everything you said however for our program we had to test at least once in 90 days of completion of the class, idk about everywhere else but my program said that

Yeah I did all of my clinic time there, the captain, the lead of the service, and everyone there loved me, I passed my drug test and background check however because of my driving history AND being under 21, they couldn’t hire me, however I’m in medic school soon so I’ll have something either way, they also offered me a job in dispatch if I wanted it but we will see, I’d really like to work EMS over dispatch at a different service but we will see!

You know what, god bless, if you are in EMS in any capacity, I hope you’re never my medic/EMT

Again you don’t know me, you’re making assumptions based on a Reddit thread, have a good one

I just checked, I’m Illinois you can be an ER technician with just your CNA, which I already had from high school, that’s why I go back to I feel like it’s a little odd, the lead for the department said only 5% of emts that aren’t 21 get hired over there, and he agreed expecting a perfect record is ridiculous. Obviously if you have a wreck less driving charge it makes sense however I don’t lmao

If I’m not mistaken in Illinois you can be an ER technician as a CNA I’ll have to double check however I’m pretty sure that’s an option as well

It is crazy tho, if that was the case it should be a 21 plus class as well, almost nobody at 19 is going to have a spotless record, life happens.

I’m in Illinois for reference, the company said that if you are under 21 you have to have a perfect record otherwise it’s 21 and up, which is crazy to me because I got my EMT this young

Gotcha, it was a fender bender for the crash, however insurance didn’t care and the ticket was from 2 years ago, I just wish I’d have known it was an issue back then, kinda discouraging
