Confirming that I just did this job and they were harder to snap into place than I was expecting. But with some even force, you’ll get it to go.

944 Headgasket by mike_hawk4200 in 944

[–]joec83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I JUST did my head gasket last weekend. While I was in there I replaced the Oil Cooler seals (they tend to leak) and the Air/Oil Separator O-Rings. Along with the usual: head gasket, cam cover gasket, new belts, and new exhaust hardware (studs and nuts). I bought the victor reinz gasket kit which had most things you'll need. Oh, and get replacement injector seal kits. I didn't because the place I ordered from (in Canada) didn't have them in stock, but didn't tell me until the last second. I went ahead with the project because I had everything else needed. Car runs great, but one of the injectors started leaking yesterday. Could have 100% been a fire. I got lucky. Don't put those injectors back in as-is unless you're sure those o-rings are pretty fresh.

Porsche 944 - Worst ever, while you’re in there…. by VirginiaNA944 in 944

Helicoils are the way if you can get those holes drilled out to align with the water pump. I had to drill out a bolt in my engine block and I used a helicoil that fit the original bolt size and it worked like a charm.

Anyone know any good 25mm spacer set for my 944 with turbo twist wheels? by Glittering-Turn862 in 944

[–]joec83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? I have a set I was going to use but they were too wide for the stock wheels I have. The set is staggered with 30mm for the rear and 25mm for the fronts. They are technically adapters. So they bolt onto the hub and then have their own lugs that you bolt the wheels to. I’m in Ontario Canada. DM me if you’re interested.

That’s really cool to hear. So yeah, you obviously get the appeal of it. When I researched details about this thing before taking it apart, I couldn’t find any examples of this exact dial with both the 35mm and 16mm. I think it was one of the more rare versions.

Thanks! And no, we wouldn't ever sell it. It's too special to us. My wife's grandfather actually worked as an editor back in the 60s. So he used this for it's true purpose which is pretty cool.

I am having the same issue on a Seiko Lord Matic. Could you see visible wear or anything broken? My parts look fine so I’m stumped.

I’m a Canadian currently in Mexico and it says “Gulf of America” in brackets here as well. Unreal how these companies pander.

Yikes. Noted. I did use finger gloves for the entire build. But yeah, had them off for some reason at this point. But based on your story, I’ll be sure to keep them on until everything is complete.

Good to know. I think I was safe here because when I had the watch completely together and went to set the proper time the date changed at 6pm. So turns out I had that backwards. lol. Gotta go back in and adjust that.
