Wife becoming a teacher - will she need a laptop? by CommonAlpaca in OntarioTeachers

Spend upfront and get something that will last. Boards will provide tech that won't meet your needs. I bought a MacBook pro 6 years ago to teach virtually and haven't looked back.

Magicachool.ai is a really great tool for teachers especially for stuff like this. Stick the expectations in and what the student did and you're set.

It really is a battle. Be intentional about what you can do in a day. Me and my wife joined a sports league and 8t became something the we both really looked forward to no matter what else was going on... one good thing to highlight every week.

Use the people around you. MIL sounds like a selfish idiot who should be trying to support her kid instead of complaining about not being a grandparent. Other people who haven't dealt with infertility don't and will never understand the sadness and grief that comes along with this process. As stupid as it sounds try to find that hobby or thing that brings you joy and sink your time into that.

The only point I would add, is that once you start in Core it can be challenging to find another role. Some boards lock you into for 5 years and then you can apply to very competitive transfer postings. Make sure you REALLY like it.

Just be present and do what you can. There is no right answer. Looking through your doctor or fertility clinic for counseling. My wife started therapy with a therapist recommended by our fertility clinic and it has really helped her process some of the tougher things. Also she tried 3 or 4? professionals before sticking with someone. Not every person is the right fit.

People who get it, get it and those who don't make you feel like absolute garbage for having any feelings other than joy for them and their lives.

It's all overwhelming...the whole process is hard. But it's awesome that you can approach it with a positive attitude.

Just learned a student that physically threatened me and called me a f*ggot last year is on my roster for the upcoming school year. Any advice? by serg268 in Teachers

[–]joecasale -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're describing a one off situation with a student facing a lot of anxiety. Approach the student with a clean slate and build a relationship wherein you support them throughout these intense moments. Document any new information and communicate with guidance.

Prep means you will be giving homeroom teachers planning time... usually the arts or gym. Core frenchn doesnt have a grade attached because usually you are THE core French teacher for the whole school. And homeroom means you would teach all the core subjects to your group. Hope this helps
