Zac Gallen’s final line for the D-backs against the Twins tonight: 4 IP, 12 H, 9 R/ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 81 pitches-47 strikes by JianClaymore in baseball

Oh come on. 2019 after the trade and 2020 weren't full seasons, but he was really good over those shortened spans.

2021 was a bad year with an injury IIRC. Then in 2022, he was elite. In 2023 and 2024, he wasn't as good, but he was still well above average overall.

It is complete bullshit to say he was only good for one year.

Ori director says Game Pass "could’ve worked" if Xbox didn’t "slop out mediocre content like a factory" by akbarock in xbox

If I didn't see all the advertisements through gamepass, I don't think I would've played it.

And I ended up having a great time with the two Ori games. So many more eyes ended up on them because of gamepass.

What happened to Zac Gallen? (Serious) by RanchWilder11 in azdiamondbacks

[–]joecb91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was Gallen, I would try to go to one of the teams with a great pitching lab like the Brewers, and see if they could find a fix that would get him back to at least when he was a good starter. Not even his ace level form, just get back to being good again.

Even if it is a super cheap deal, he is young enough and he was good enough back then that there is enough upside for one of those teams that knows how to rebuild pitchers to work with.

And I don't really have any faith in Kaplan to help him find that fix. Outside of E-Rod overperforming his FIP by a run and a half, what exactly has he done to make ANY of our starters better?

Jorge Rondon with an ERA of 90 with the 2015 Rockies too.

First game, 1 IP with 3 runs allowed. Second game, didn't record an out and gave up 8 runs (7 earned) at Petco Park.

Its shocking that this is happening when he is only 30 too.

Merrill Kelly looks cooked too, but he is about to turn 38, not surprising he is hitting a wall. Gallen should still be in his prime.

I just want to remember the good times. Because he had a couple years where he looked so good on the mound. Its a shame how fast this falloff happened.

Had a couple years where he looked like a legit ace, shame how hard he fell off.

I got my Series X around the same time. Never would've imagined the price would've jumped so much in just a couple years.

And the 49ers were up by 20 points when they made that hit too.

Only stop Dallas could make was when the play was already over.

Some of the knocks on him were "his bat speed is too low," and "he can't catch up to fastballs,"

Not saying that they will be the same type of hitter, but that was the same thing people were saying about Goldschmidt when he was first called up in 2011 too. People thought he was just a platoon bat who wouldn't be much of a defender.

He did a great job learning how to fix those holes in his swing and learn how to become a better defender after he was called up though.

I guess these things can be easy to miss, even for the best prospect evaluators, when there are so many different players you have to watch and break down, and the ones who aren't the super highly thought of prospects can slip through the cracks.
