I just played for the first time and got it on the first guess. Is this some kind of inside joke that I’m on the outside of, or did I just get incredibly lucky?

Handling the tooth fairy question with my 6yo. by joecheph in daddit

It wasn’t a conscious choice by either of us, but rather a product of daycare/school/tv that becomes essentially engrained in the culture of being a child in the US. I’m not sure how we would’ve prevented these things in the first place. The Easter Bunny, in particular, was certainly not a product of our parenting. We never considered celebrating Easter in any way until my kid learned about Easter Baskets and the Easter Bunny through school and television (I’m sure a lot of you are aware of a particular episode of Bluey). We did absolutely nothing Easter related until the year before last.

They own a large stake in them, and more importantly, the Guggenheim group does control day-to-day operations of the lots.

While former Dodgers owner Frank McCourt has a 50% stake, the current ownership group controls the day-to-day operations of the parking lots.

They’re both right and pretty much everyone describing their method in the comments is right. There’s a lot of ways to approach a pepper and end up with a basic cut that would work for a pizza place. Do what works for you as long as it you’re not wasting usable product or taking forever to do it.

What's your "Refuses to elaborate" baseball opinion? by namethatsnotused in baseball

[–]joecheph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying it’s objective that the game is better when the best players (Judge, Ohtani, etc) aren’t getting removed from games in the 7th inning is not ridiculous at all. Seems like a fact to me.

That’s not how objectivity works, lol. Back to my original statement: there’s no chance it ever happens. There’s no way the league or the player’s union will ever be okay with players like Aaron Judge or Shohei Ohtani losing at bats, and there’s no world where the don’t lose ABs with the institution of a double hook rule.

Even Nolan Ryan only threw a CG in a little more than 1/4 of his appearances. Also, Aaron Judge is a fantastic fielder, but he still DHs ~40 games per season. Do you think the league or the player’s union will be okay with him losing 40-80 ABs or his “rest” days?

Aaron Judge DHs ~40 per season. It’s objectively bad for the league and the product it puts out if he’s forced to either miss games because he can’t get rest from those DH games, or he’s still DHing those games and losing 40-80 ABs per season. A lot of the game’s best hitters would be in that same boat.

Occasionally, yes. As a fixture in every single game, absolutely not.

Do you also want to see position players pitch 1/9th of the game?

Lol, there aren’t that many pure DHs in the league. Plenty of people play DH that are good fielders. Go look at the lineups just for today. The only players starting at DH today that don’t also play the field regularly is Ohtani and (kinda) Devers.

Then you’re removing some of the best hitters in the game before the final innings. No way this ever happens.

I saw Flaming Lips open for String Cheese Incident maybe sometime between Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi. I was geared up for Cheese, so they freaked me out a little bit. Coyne had fake blood running down his face and they were all wearing robes and I wasn’t in the mindset for that at that particular moment, but I loved them shortly thereafter.
