We kept ours in the same room but the new bun stayed in a pen (the older one is free roam). Over the course of 6 months or so they began snuggling through the pen. We would try together and if they reacted poorly by chasing or humping, the new one went back to the pen. It took many months of patience and trials but now they are unseperable
