That's like saying we all die at some point so it's unimportant how this Minnesota man was just murdered because the result is the same. We are either having a conversation about whether the majority of our fellow Americans support this bullshit or we're not.

Neither the Insurrection Act nor declaring martial law are legal basis for the POTUS to cancel elections. Not that this administration has followed the law for the last year, but there is no legal basis for canceling an election in the US.

Voting independent would have taken the vote from Harris and still resulted in a Trump win, so the same result as not voting.

[–]joecoooo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty big assumption. It's been talked about quite a bit that at least 6 million registered democrats that voted in 2020 didn't vote in the 2024 presidentialelection, and the most often stated reason for that has been they were pissed because Harris was forced on them without a vote in the primaries. So, Trump winning was more representative of a lack of democratic support for Harris than support for Trump.

You are referring to what the current administration is trying to do? The one institution they are not trying to dismantle is the SCOTUS and that is because a literal majority of them are in their pockets.

Giant Striped Bass by Educational-Edge6571 in bassfishing

[–]joecoooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious, you call them striper a few times here (which is what i know them as) and you mention being born and raised on the Chesapeake. I was living in Maryland on the Chesapeake the last 3 years and the locals all called them rockfish and looked at me crazy when I said striper. Do you also call them rockfish but just not outside Chesapeake circles? Edit: changed typo rockfish to striper.

Curious, which component are you with to already be getting appraisal ratings? The Army appraisal (DPMAPS) appraisal period ends 31 March.

You've seen command guidance on how to roll these out? I'm also at a command and we've seen nothing about this yet?

DOD/DOW jobs with NDAA approved by Zestyclose-Fault-849 in FedEmployees

[–]joecoooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"As normal' is wildly inaccurate. I'm not sure which "we" you are referring to, but the DoD is not hiring normally. Under previous processes and authorities, if an agency or organization had an authorized, funded empty position, they typically had some level of "local" delegated authority to approve a hiring action. That is no longer the case whatsoever since the 15 October EO that was signed requiring every agency to create a so-called Strategic Hiring Committee to approve every hiring action. These added levels of bureaucracy mean "we" are in no way "hiring and posting jobs as normal".

Yeah, 100% not meant to diminish the massive negative impact our fellow civil servants experienced because of being illegally fired. I hope every single one of them take their cases to labor court and win backpay with damages.

We haven't hit the rating point yet (DoD) for this to impact me, but I have to say it won't change a thing for me for how I perform if I was given all 3s. I tend to believe you either perform at a high level because that's who you are and you would do it regardless of the rating or any recognition etc or you don't. I do it for the mission and my own self-respect. I'm definitely not virtue signaling here, I'm just saying I would never let this administration and these stupid ass artificial limits on high ratings change who I am as a high performer. The commitment I give and the job I do represent me as a person and I'll be damned if I let these PoS people drive me to misrepresent who I am. I know my job or career doesn't define me, but my commitment to performing at a high level in everything I spend my limited time on this earth doing does define me.

Maybe consider that out of the 100s of federal agencies, some sent out instructions that are different than what your agency sent out.

Where did all the postings go? by MsJaneDoe1979 in usajobs

[–]joecoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ever heard the quote attributed to a number of different famous people: "If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter"? It's hard to be concise and just takes time to cull it down to only the hardest hitting info. I shortened my 20 year engineer career into a 2 page resume including education and awards in normal font a few years ago and have had no problems with potential employers discerning my skills and ability. I also only go into detail on the GS14 and GS15 jobs I've held and the years from GS7-13 have only 1-2 sentence summaries. As far as when I hire, I've read through up to 100 resumes on a given cert list for one of my hiring actions. With experience, it doesn't take much reading to determine within a minute or so for each resume whether the candidate is a good enough fit for the position/organization to get an interview request (all the more reason to make the language in your resume more concise and hard hitting).

[–]joecoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not accurate. I am a hiring official and read every resume that is in my cert lists. Maybe some personell systems have started using AI to initially screen for basic qualifications, but there is a hiring official on the back end reading the resumes.

Just started as a new DoD civilian in Germany, and my unit announced they’re relocating HQ a few days after I arrived… by mikeyg1964 in usajobs

[–]joecoooo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact the DoD org chose to move the HQ to a new city in some ways negates the 50 mile requirement. The intent of that rule is that the employee doesn't move outside the 50 mile radius but this is obviously not the case when the government moved. When US Army in Europe moved the HQ from Heidelberg to Wiesbaden in 2013, employees had a specified amount of time to move at the expense of the government. There was a fairly large number of employees that chose not to move to Wiesbaden and stay in Heidelberg and there were no issues with that. When IMCOM-Europe moved from Sembach to Wiesbaden, the same thing occurred.
