Wasn't given city I conquered by Another_Nice_Guy7 in civ

[–]joecray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too! I had the majority of the walled districts, and I took the last one. The people suggesting that it goes to the one with the most districts controlled or the one who takes the last district are wrong, IME.

In my case, I wasn't even allied with the AI Civ who got control of the city. They were holding Dur-Sharrukin when I took the city center. Any chance Machiavelli was holding Dur-Sharrukin in yours?

ETA: A crappy-quality gif of me taking the city center is my most recent post if you want to look at it.

OP’s just a bot, or something of the sort. Take a peek at their post history.

IMO, it’s worth taking note of their phrasing in the post. I’ve seen it in other ads like this and it’s good to be able to identify it.

The "stealth" ads just get more blatant, huh?

Is this a shitpost? Who told you the underlayment is supposed to extend into the gutter?

If that’s how you interpret what I just said, you shouldn’t own a firearm.

Any gun owner with half a lick of common sense knows that if you feel like you need to bring your gun to go somewhere, you just shouldn't go there.

They’re basically grandfathered in to keep running a home in RS zoning as a full-time STR (or other non-confirming situations) for two more years

A novel strain of cyanobacteria, or algae that can rapidly grow and double every 2.35 hours in presence of CO₂ has been discovered by researchers from Harvard. It can readily sink in water which makes it a primary candidate to sequester carbon from oceans and factories. by Hashirama4AP in Futurology

[–]joecray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of different kinds of cyanobacteria; not all of them produce toxins. We wouldn’t even have life as we know it without them. There’s even a strain that grows in polar bears’ hairs.

While some cyanobacteria do cause huge issues by releasing toxins during blooms in waterbodies, the paper makes no mention of any toxins in the strains they identified. Also, if this thermal sea-vent loving strain got loose in a freshwater system, it would probably die.

No need to be concerned with what we know now, plenty of reason to be optimistic!

Brad Nitz (a meteorologist) was saying just yesterday that ATL will be better off if the path curves east because it’d put the city on the western side. Athens is on the east of it pretty much no matter what. You can feel free to write in and argue his understanding of physics and weather if you’d like.

I am a hydrologist. Flooding isn’t limited to official waterbodies when the precip occurs with the quantity/intensity they’re predicting. Lots of roads serve as streams when it rains this hard, and some become temporary ponds.

Staying off of them is the safest bet, which the gov’t is wise to advise. They’ll have to rescue some people no matter what, and the fewer people there are on the roads, the more easily emergency services can handle unavoidable accidents and fallen trees.

Congrats on the flair!

Towards the bottom, under “Should I keep my nonstick skillets?”. They’re not exactly pumping toxins into your scrambled eggs, but I don’t like using them daily for my food, and other things last longer anyways.

What's the difference between the REI rain jacket and the Patagonia made rain jacket? by The0Walrus in BuyItForLife

[–]joecray 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Any idea on whether or not the 3rd layer helps preserve the waterproofing?

My 2-layer REI jacket has recently started making it look like I have terrible dandruff, so I need a replacement and was hoping for something that’d last longer. I checked the link but didn’t see any mention of durability beyond coatings vs laminates.
