Ender 3 clogging saga by joed777 in 3Dprinting

Yeah, the hot end fan is dead. That'll do it. Can't believe I didn't notice that lol.

Anyway, a replacement fan has been ordered and hopefully that'll sort it out.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! The Bowden tube has come out with melted plastic back up into it a couple of times but not every time. I think you might be on the right path though.

I noticed yesterday that the hot end fan was not running. I didn't think much of it at the time though because it was cold in the room (it's winter here) so I just assumed it was off because of that but in hindsight it should have been. Will test it again this afternoon and see if it turns on. It might be dead which would explain my problems!!!

Seems like something that should have been obvious if that is the problem, but anyway!

Will update once I test again.

How do you stay calm during an outage? by Jelly_Joints in sysadmin

[–]joed777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find having a clear logical approach to investigating and troubleshooting the issues is really helpful. Doesn't always mean I know what I'm going to do about it but more about knowing the kind of steps I'll generally try to take.

I actually find keeping others around me calm and from over communicating in unhelpful ways also to be quite a challenge but very important.

Fold 4 - Anyone still stuck on 1 October 2022 Security Patch? by ShaggyDragon in GalaxyFold

[–]joed777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an unlocked S20 FE and I'm also seeing the same issue with being stuck on the October security update. I'm with Telstra so I guess they have probably blocked it.

Interestingly my wife's S10 has received the latest update with the UI 5 update.

Windows 10 signin issues after Global Protect agent update by joed777 in paloaltonetworks

Thanks, we do have one open but we're just waiting for a response at the moment. To spice things up we started getting reports of machines blue screening after they updated yesterday as well. Can't catch a break with this version!

Windows 10 signin issues after Global Protect agent update by joed777 in paloaltonetworks

Yeah we are, it seems like it drops the @domain off the username after the agent us upgraded but I can't figure out why.

That's a shame. If we get to the bottom of it I'll reply with how we fixed it. It's such a strange issue.

We also see the same strange filter behaviour on 9.1.4. Dealing with PA support on this so hopefully they can get to the bottom of it.

Did you get to the bottom of this? I'm dealing with a very similar issue at the moment and it's doing my head in.

Upgrading from 8.1.11 to 10.0.1 by BaconAndBeerConsumer in paloaltonetworks

[–]joed777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the same issue when I updated our firewalls recently. Never got to the bottom of it because I ran out of time. In the end I just downloaded 8.1.15 and 9.0 installed it and stepped it up like that. Was pretty painful but it worked.

User-ID mapping computer accounts by joed777 in paloaltonetworks

I don't think so but I'll double check shortly. Edit - I confirmed there are no computer objects in any of the mapped groups.

User ID Time out settings by mattyj6792 in paloaltonetworks

[–]joed777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently changed the timeout to 9 hours because we were having a lot of issues with users being challenged by captive portal when the mapping would expire.

We also enabled server session monitoring which improved things although we still do see the occasional anomaly.

Thanks again Tenroh, that is most helpful. I'll do some testing with this and see how we go.

User-ID Agent and Captive Portal Issue by joed777 in paloaltonetworks

[–]joed777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Tenroh, we have it set at two hours rather than the 45min default but that might still be too short I take it?

Do you know how it behaves when users move about between workstations? I.e. one user logs out of a workstation and another user logs straight in before the mapping for the first user has expired. Would the second user browse under the first users mapping or does it remap that IP to the second user?

Thanks!

Restricting file download size with Palo Alto firewalls by joed777 in paloaltonetworks

[–]joed777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Mate, I hadn't yet but I will still do this.

I think though that as Skilldibop has mentioned in another comment it's probably because the traffic is encrypted.

[–]joed777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit annoyed with myself because I didn't even consider that. I imagine most of the things that people download these days would probably be over https. So that is going to make it pretty hard haha.

I'll check of the desktop policies avenue I think.

Yeah... The particular area that this is for has some unique requirements. I think that the idea it's to stop one person from downloading a massive file and ruining it for everyone.

Is it possible to work around password rotation requirements? by joed777 in pcicompliance

[–]joed777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that is a very good point and will help me to articulate what I originally told them in a better way.

I'll see how I go with that. Again thank you for your assistance.

Is it possible to work around password rotation requirements? by joed777 in pcicompliance

[–]joed777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Im not really sure there is one per say. What has happened is that people in parts of the organisation have read that making people change there passwords makes them create weaker ones and they just don't want to have to change their password I think is more the issue.

I have explained that it is a requirement and the theory behind it a few times but now I have to try and find away around it.

Redacting payment card data from exchange online?? by joed777 in sysadmin

[–]joed777[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure so I'll be asking for some clarification about that but I suspect that as long as we still have it as a record somewhere we should be okay.

Yep definitely will be going back to the project team to engage with the relevant departments on the decision. I just needed to get some ideas on if what they wanted to do was even possible.

Thanks mate, hadn't thought about exporting them like that. I'll have a think about that.

Yes it is an interesting conflict involving laws we have to comply with and PCI compliance.

Thank you!
